Frankly, I don't know shit about software nor hardware. I know how to build a PC, but just let my Dad's employee do it since I might break something or whatnot.

I've had my own computer basically since I started middle school. And since then, I kind of had to go through trial and error to make things work for me on it, since no one ever really wanted to help me out when I needed it.

So, basically, when it comes to how comp savvy I am... I can make a computer work, and I can make it work well. But I'm not an expert, and I probably couldn't fix your computer for you, unless it was something simple like iTunes not working, or how to set up internet, or anything like that.

On the other hand, I can also set up my computer to do whatever I want/need it to do for me. At the same time, though, it's still a lot of trial and error, so don't ask me how I did it, because odds are, I won't be able to tell you ^^;

... Which actually kind of sucks when I get new computers and then have to try and remember it all in order to set up the new one how the old one used to be. Ah well, such is life.

Edit: Sorry for the double post...

I've been using computers since the first personal home computers were available. I've built more systems than I can remember or probably count. Its all been a lifestyle for the most part. I wouldn't say gaming was the cause of my computer knowledge, growing up 30 minutes outside the city had alot to do with it. Either play with electronics or ride a bike and watch grass grow.

I click this thingy and type in words works pretty well for me.

But seriously I figure most things out by myself or through the internent.
This. People come to me for help but it's pretty much just:

That said, you learn a huge amount from doing your own research, plus I've put my own rig together and am confident about digging though my PC's software... though I've not passed the linux barrier or anything, I like my Windows GUI. I'd say I'm knowledgeable about the use of computers (though not their coding), and can easily fill gaps in my knowledge as required.

I'm a professional programmer, so I know a fair bit about the software side of things. Most of my professional knowledge is in the realm of Android, but it's not like that's too terribly different from a standard computer.

I'm also decently knowledgeable about the hardware. I don't know too much, but I can build and diagnose computers fairly well. I don't know much about the specifics of a given piece, but I can tell if it's not working right and (generally) how to fix it.

I can replace basic hardware, like hard drives, RAM and GPUs, and can use all the basic systems and settings on most computers. Don't know any programming languages, but would like to. Most of my "knowledge" comes from being able to find good info on teh interwebs, or being able to accurately-ish guess. With my recent installation of Linux, I hope to cross that barrier soon.

oh no, not logic charts again. (i've had nightmares with these things)
I know my way around a computer, been building and adding the the first one i got back in 2000 up until a few months ago when i decided to get brand new all parts (still kept the old hard drives, but other than that, new, shiny new)
i know that i don't know all there is to know, but still, somehow, i'm the only one that people tend to ask about stuff, and i always get it fixed in as much as 24 hours. the only time i couldn't was when a friend blew the video card(which was integrated) on a brand new asus gaming laptop a couple of years ago. I was in shock to see that the screen looked like a very failed attempt at 3d image rendering for those 3d glasses. the screen was split into to exactly the same display, overlapping each other, and it did it while in bios as well.

I know the basics, I know more or less what everything means according to the technical computer Jargon and understand the terms, but not very well, just enough.

I can take it apart, identify most of the basic components, install my own RAM et cetera.

I can do basic programming in Delphi, IT grade 10 level.

I do basic image editing with GIMP 2.6.11

I can fix just about any problem either by my lonesome or via Google.

I can, with enough time, find anything I need with teh interwebz and people do tend to ask me for help with pc-related tasks.

So I am okay, but not great.

I know the job and how to install all the basic computer components.

I know some (Extremely little) Java.

I can generally fix all the problems I come across with my computer.

I build all my PC's from scratch. Also, I can fix just about anything to goes wrong with just about any Windows OS.

Let's put it this way, if I ever need to ask for help (because 20 minutes on Google yielded nothing) then your computer will get a fresh HDD wipe and OS reinstall.
