Bulgarian scientists have made several important discoveries and inventions that have revolutionized global society: the world's first electronic digital computer, designed by Bulgarian-American scientist John Vincent Atanasoff; the first electronic digital watch (Peter Petroff), the first purpose-built aircraft bombs (capt. Simeon Petrov); nivalin (prof. Dimitar Paskov)[86][87]; the molecular-kinetic theory of crystal formation and crystal growth (formulated by Ivan Stranski) and photoelectrets (Georgi Nadjakov), the last forming an important step in the development of the first photocopier machine. Bulgaria became the 6th country in the world to have an astronaut in space: major-general Georgi Ivanov on Soyuz 33 (1979), followed by lieutenant-colonel Alexander Alexandrov on Soyuz TM-5 (1988).[88] 10q Wikipedia

We invented the fridge?

Anyway, we invented the dynamite (Alfred Nobel was Swedish anyway).
And the Nobel Price.

And Ireland invented the Tank, the Submarine, and flavored potatochips.

Clearly Ireland is the best country ever.

EDIT: Oh, hey, look what I found [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swedish_inventions]
Actually Ireland made the first army commissioned submarine and over here we call them crisps ; )

OT: hmm Irish inventions...

Pulsars, Radiotherapy, Nickel-zink batteries, guided missiles, the electron, seismology, the hollow needle syringe, Complex Numbers (possibly my favourite), the beaufort scale....

You forgot splitting the atom (according to this site). :L

As a Canadian, I also point to the list that so many people have pointed out before.
As a Chinese... I don't know, we got so much stuff to choose from... I mean, just our top 4 (paper, compass, printing, and gunpowder) makes us pretty epic. To top it off, we also have a seismometer that's almost as fucking old as Jesus.
Some other inventions that I really like; mines (both land and naval), hand cannons, and chemical weapons.

South Korea invented not much stuff.

New Zealand apparently developed the Modern Jetboat and Bungy Jumping.

Wales the most we're famous for is dragons, leeks, harps, singing and sheep.

I suppose welsh cakes are pretty fucking tasty ill go with that.

EDIT: screw that first powered flight in 1895 and fuel cells turns out our country was pretty good.

i still stand by welsh cakes being awesome though.

Strangely enough, you're both wrong. These guys say so.

Although a healthy percentage of them were killed. I guess history is indeed written by the victor.

Oh snap...

I'm English and even *I* have to admit that Scotland has this one won by a country mile.

sorry to crap all over the Scots on here, but Alexander Graeme-Bell DID NOT invent the telephone. he was working for the (I think Canadian) patent office and the person that was filing the patent couldn't afford to see it through, so Graeme-Bell filed it himself.

sneaky fox!

I don't believe it, 6 whole pages and a page search for vegemite brought up absolutely nothing. Well allow me to fix that .... Vegemite. Vegemite is Australia's greatest invention (unless someone else invented it for us, in which case, it's our now so back off before I set my platypi on you).

The microscope, telescope, pendulum clock, the submarine.

But what takes the cake is the CD.
