Since we already had a thread dedicated to getting only people's wallpapers/backgrounds.

Here's one to show off how messy everyones desktops can be, do you have hundreds of icons scattered all over, or have you decided to clump them together in small groups. Or have you simply decided to get rid of them all and rely on keyboard short cut commands.

If you're posting more then one picture at a time please place them in spoiler tags.

Here's my current one to start us off with.

I use a "Dream-scene" animated background that I made myself. Here is the video:

Here is what it looks like with my icons:

Hey Flames66, how much memory and processing power does that dream scene use up on average?
Got any Activity Monitor screenshots of ir?

I think it looks rather good, specially how you're hiding the icons on the planets. :)

You sir, have an awesome background. That is the galaxy map from Star Wars: Empire at War. I liked that game, and my encounters with other people who liked that game have been few and far between. That's a very nice desktop you have there, I got all excited when I realized what it was.
Here's mine:
I like to keep my desktop pretty clean, so I can see all of whatever I have set as my background. I keep Recycle Bin up top, Unity where I can launch it quickly, Steam and Origin for accessing my games, and usually one or two quick links to online F2P games, right now I just have Vindictus. I figure Skype and Zune speak for themselves, I doubt many people are entirely without IM and Music programs on their computers.
As for the bottom bar, it's the top 3 shortcuts I use the most: Firefox, Documents, and Steam.

If anyone cares at all about the background, It's a picture I found on an artist's photobucket. I really want to give the original photographer proper credit, but for the life of me I can't remember their name or how to find their photobucket again.
Anyways, I've recently spent time trying to get X-Wing to run on Windows 7 (a pursuit in which I succeeded), and then re-played the game. I've always had a huge, fanboy boner for both flight games and Star Wars, so naturally X-Wing is one of my favorite games ever, and my background is a picture of a rebel pilot.

Edit: Totally forgot to mention the little widget. It came installed with Windows 7, and I use it to make sure my expensive new rig isn't going to melt.

"You are current background."
That just doesn't roll off the tongue.

Mine is Fluttershy breaking the bears neck with FATALITY in the background.

I usually change my background every month or so, and I always have a picture of a level from one of the old Mega-Drive Sonic games; currently, to go with the colder weather, it's the Ice Cap Zone from Sonic 3.

Also, I keep my desktop nice and tidy, with just a few links to Programs I use all the time, but underneath the surface, pretty much the rest of my computer's filing is in complete disarray.

*wince* Your, not You're.

Mine's a scene of a bluebell forest, totally drowned in icons.

Ah thanks! I didn't even notice that at all, a rather big fail on my part.

I've blanked out a few things, not that any of them really matter if they were public. Also one screen is fairly lower than the other so the background dips to align them.

Nothing fancy, generic rainmeter and a lucid white icon rocketdock. The rocketdock does use drop down menus for the folders though.

(Copy and pasted from the last thread on this =])

D: Spelling... And Grammar nazi... Writhing in pain... You are current desktop?!

Anyway, a picture of my girlfriend and her cat, three gadgets and three things on my desktop - the bin, games, and useful stuff. Anything I install goes into one of these categories.
The rest I have along the bottom menu, the stuff I use regularly.

Fairly organised, even if it takes a few seconds to find everything I want, if I haven't used it in a while.

I have a nice Mac theme on my Windows 7 that I installed like 2 days ago, and as the picture suggests, I'm still hyped for the PC release of L.A. Noire. Also, I had my desktop COMPLETELY filled with icons, but I decided to tell that shit to go fuck itself, and deleted almost all of it.

Btw, this topic reminds me of a famous topic that they used to have in the forum of my favorite San Andreas Multiplayer server D:

I have always been a disorganised, messy creature. I have decided recently that I should try to get myself in order, starting with my computer and moving on to my living spaces. The surface is organised as you can see from my desktop. Underneath however, my disorganised self remains. I have a folder called "Desktop Files" where all the random icons, shortcuts and files are dumped. It is the same with my living spaces, the appearance of order with a complete mess in the cupboards.

I'm too lazy to create a photobucket account (or any website with similar function) and upload an actual picture of my desktop. Not that it matters too much since I have zero shortcuts on my desktop.

It's based on this image. I edited to fit my screen's native resolution and added a beam of light, a city silhouette, and some helicopters. I tried to make it look like the game's cover basically.
