Current job: Searching for one.

Dream Job: Well, I have a ten year plan. In six years, I'm going into the Royal Marine Commandos, hopefully. After that, I'll try and get into a writing career, realistically working up from journalism.

So while I'll enjoy all of it a great deal, the end goal is to be a successful author and ex commando.
Sounds like another one of those SAS lads...writing a book about everything... ;)

All I can say is train like a Mother****er. I done 6 months preparation of cardio, swimming and endurance training - The first month of RT was still a MASSIVE shock to the system.
Well, most of my book ideas aren't particularly military.

As for preparation: As soon as I finish the physiotherapy on my left shoulder, I'm spending six years solid training for this. People say "aw, it's really tough. Don't get your hopes up about being accepted. Failure? Not if I fucking well have anything to say about it!

And I just realized it's you I quoted so you know all this anyway! Ah well. Oh, and a friend of mine's left A level college for the Paras (he chose them over the Royal Marines because they offered to take him right away). And I met one of the original WW2 Royal Marines.
Indeed, I recognized the name!

Be sure to let your shoulder heal, before doing anything strenuous with it!
Take it from someone who's been there and done that - They say it's tough? They have NO idea. It was one of the single most difficult things I've ever done.

If you want to get through it - you honest to god need to WANT it - because that'll be the only thing that'll keep you going when you're running, covered in mud, soaking wet, freezing, carrying all your equipment, in the middle of the night, in the pouring rain and every muscle on your body hurts because you haven't slept for two or three days.

Also, Be sure to crack a few pongo/Cherry beret jokes at your friend. ( He'll still need to take a BARB test, medical, interview and fitness test and then be given a waiting time before he can start Training. )
The funny thing is he's a smoker.

I don't envy that guy.
His life will be hell. For the first few weeks, it's gunna feel like a hammers pounding on his chest all day, everyday. XD

I'm currently a student at University, doing odd jobs here and there for the Tempshop (working as an IT desk clerk over Christmas for decent pay.

What I'd like to do? I'd love to create my own successful website for gaming, music and art related articles, reviews and various pieces and then earn enough from ad revenue and merchandice to live off of and employ people. I've worked for sites before and know how stupidly futile it is to try and break through that market, though. Even with a team of experienced writers and editors, you're doomed to fail if you don't do everything right, or perhaps sell your soul and just give good reviews...

So, in short, my dream will never occur because it's too hard. I'll still try it. I'm an Editor for my Uni newspaper, so it's only a matter of getting together a bunch of relatively talented writers and giving them a goal and editing it all. Lot of work.

I also had the kind of idea to open up my own chocolate shop... That requires - to be a true dream - for me to invent and patent a new method of making chocolate. Then, with the money I make after the business becomes autonomus I become an MP, then move to the US and become a Senator (I can, dual national ftw). Once Fusion-powered space crafts become a reality, I will then be a part of the first 50 settlers for the very first human settled planet not in our solar system. I will then rise to become president of said planent, after being elected by the 178,000 people who had immigrated there over the previous decade. Then, I'll legalize Marijuana, promote multi culturalism and rural expansion, as well as devoting funds towards metal processing industries to ensure we remain a planet that makes things (crafts, equipment, etc), not just raw materials. Then, we'll break away from the overbearing political body that determines where settlers move in the galaxy, and advocate a HSA (Human Systems Alliance) where a unified republic decides on the best actions for mankind; every planet remains independant from earth and all other systems, trading and living in peaceful cohesion with the rest of the human galaxy.

I will then die having been a successful business owner, politician in two powerful countries, President of the first settled planet, representative to the HSA for my planet and leave my legacy in the form of 3 children, all destined for greater things (except Joshua, who will likely lead a seperatist movement which will result in his banishment from the planet by my President son, Geoffery.

So, there you go... That's my dream life.

Sam,

I'm currently working in the quality control lab of a pharmaceutical company. I have a degree in Biomedical Science, so in no way was it my dream job to be working to basically help line the pockets of a global pharmaceutical company, who do not bat an eyelid about ripping off the people/institutions they are selling their product to. But, I needed a job.

I would like to work perhaps in the lab of a hospital or something, that way I would feel a lot better about what I'm actually doing, and I would be putting my knowledge to better use. My dream job would be to work in forensic science, but the pay is absolute and utter pants.

Officially I'm unemployed, but working for Valve, now that would be awesome! Of course, that's like how someone might want to be a rockstar - I lack the qualifications and I don't live in Seattle (or wherever they are), but it looks so cool!

Current Job: Unemployed and unhappy about it.

Dream Job: Freelance writer, specifically writing about either games and gaming or motorbikes. Both are great loves of mine.

I'm under no illusions that it's an easy way to live; I know that the hours can be long, the work inconsistent and the job security nonexistent. The thing is, I'm not averse to hard work and long hours, I just want to have some flexibility to do it on my own terms. I enjoy the processes of researching and writing, especially to a deadline. The whole life, the good and the bad, really appeals to me for some reason.

Sadly, much as I enjoy writing, doing a history degree almost entirely beat the ability to write anything interesting out of me.

My dream job: unemployed with loads of money.

Huh. Looks like im one step closer to my dream than most people here. Maybe things arent so bad.

(Im joking if you cant tell, my dream job would be working as a creative head at a video game developer, but I would be satisfied with a desk job somewhere.)

I dont think I could deal with the pressure that comes with being an author. I used to be/am very good at writing short stories, if you can believe that, but imagine getting a book published and having it achieving success, and then having to write a sequel.
Well, that's easy to work around. Make the end very conclusive, such as everyone dies! Man, I'm smart. X]

Anyway:
Current Job: Miserably unemployed.
Dream Job: Successful Published Author. Or ungodly rich. Either or.

Current job: quite unemployed.

Dream job: Hell, there are so many jobs that would seem like teh total awesomeness to me...
Mostly just for about a day, a week or maybe even a year. But nothing seems good enough to want a career in. xD Except maybe stand-up comedy, just for people with a strangely weird sense of humor. Other interests would be writer, astronaut (they get to be in SPACE! y'know?), animal caretaker or lawyer. Yeah....still can't decide.

My current job is working at a deli in a supermarket. My dream job is to be rich or well off and never have to work again because it sucks working. In reality though I'm working towards graphic design. I'm creative although I don't care about anything so that's what I'm doing.

I'm currently a logistics administrator and haz cargo handling adviser... s'ok, but I don't want to do it for beyond the foreseeable future...

Ideally, I'd be in academia, as a conservation and chemical ecology researcher... with tenure, no academic dream comes without tenure!

Equal with that is writing... though without the stress of deadlines (I wouldn't worry about the money provided I could live comfortably). I'd probably kill my editor if he/she even once asked for a submission...
