Heh. Prof. Poliakoff wasn't just a lecturer of mine, he was also one of my personal tutor. It made for some awesome tutorials, the nicest guy you could ever hope to meet. Had a strange habit of trying to get his tutee's to watch his brothers films, made for some very odd emails.

Your research group actually sounds like a cool group of people actually, it seems easy to know why you would have interesting conversations :D. As for the whole money thing, I hope it get's better soon, it's good that you are handling it well :)
To have a tutorial with the guy (even though his specialty is nothing to do with what I do... =P).

Anyway, that's just the chemistry lab group, the ecology lab group is another eclectic mix with one common factor: good food! Every one of them is a mean baker/chef, lunch times never get boring, I tell you. Cheese, cake and fruit make some sort of appearance every day, quite cool actually.

And hopefully the whole funding farce should be cleared up soon enough. My supervisor is taking it in good humour so everyone's relaxed a little over this week.
You get free food?! Wow I am jealous. I never got free food grumble, grumble...

As for the whole funding farce, your supervisor has probably had to deal with this kinda thing before, so try and take advantage of the situation, have a couple of days off!!!

Anyhoo, I'm going to bed, I think we have sorta derailed the thread enough XD it was great talking to you, we should do this again sometime :)

Not just any 'free food', good European (Swiss/Italian/French usually) food! =P (OK, I'll stop being a jerk now.)

And have a couple days off? Oh, no no, even though we can't order anything, we've got a lot of stock chemicals and solvents to keep me busy for... a long time, shall we say. Still, it'd be good to have a break. And in so saying, I need to get some sleep too...

And yeah... I was thinking... is a Brony thread the best place to be ranting/reminiscing/discussing chemistry?! Totally worth it tho.

G'night!

Crossed pen and sword with a crimson shield in front of a "Knight" chess piece emblazoned on a crimson shield. Too much?

The soviet national emblem.

[IMG=http://www.theempire.ru/UsSrOO4.jpg]

The hammer and sickle stand for new power and peaceful labor.
The wheat stands for prosperity.
The sun stands for light of the ideas of the great October and a bright future.
The red star stands for the fight against capitalism on all five continents and the golden rim stands for the glow of the revolutions fire.

My cutie mark would probably be a pair of theatre masks on top of a heart. The masks represent my love of acting and my rather outgoing personailty since I tend to joke around and be melodramatic for fun. The heart represents my kind nature since I tend to be a nice guy and I actively try not to be a jerk to people.

well somebody ambitious, you should make your cutie mark a hooker and next to her your wife, sorry but i couldn't resist. Off topic but i live next to D.C. and you would be surprise how many hookers their are in the city and how corrupt the police are.
Yeah, I went to D.C. once on a mission trip to minister to the homeless, and while I didn't actively see corruption in the police, I did see the prostitutes and homeless.

No such wrench exists. Survey 1000 toolboxes and I guaruntee you'll never find one. Or a 7/16.

Anyway, my mark is a microchip. Computers are my life.

What the hell, man, this was the first thing that popped into my mind when I read the first post! What am I supposed to do now? ;_;
What say we make a compromise? I'll change mine to a miniature marimba (my favorite percussion instrument) and you can have the snare drum & sticks.

What say you?
I would say that's a very generous offer, and I would humbly accept. I am, first and foremost, a metal drummer though, so I can go with a set of double kickdrums, that works as well. =)
I think I'll stick with the marimba, as that's basically my primary instrument and the one I enjoy playing the most. I haven't played serious drum set in a long time. Not a whole lot of room for it when you're a music education major. I plan to get back to it someday though.

I'm not in a band, nor do I have any work in that field right now. Hell, I don't even have an acoustic kit (I play on a Roland TD12 digital kit. Living in an apartment sucks in that regard), but I'd go nuts if I didn't have something to bang away frustrations on at least. I don't know many people who share that sentiment, so I'm happy to find someone who shares my love for the instrument, or hell, music in general. =)

Sorry boys and girls, won't derail the topic anymore!

Not really sure. A video game controller or something would be easiest, but too simple. Specifically, something regarding video games as an interactive narrative art form. That's a lot more difficult. Not really sure what simple mark could communicate that. Though really, a controller is the way with which the player interacts with the story and game world, so perhaps that would actually mean everything it needs to...

Oh trust me it's their, just not as much open, the reason why prostitution is so accepted is because the police are bribed by both the pimps and other business men. They did a scan one time of the background of the D.C. cops and other 60% had felonies. And if you think that bad their mayor was caught smoking crack with a prostitute in a hotel room, and the people of D.C. reelected him after the incident.

You are an old man and a fool! (No insult intended. Thor reference)

But really, there is a 9/16 wrench. How would I know you ask? Since I work with them all the time, that's why. :p
