Odd, I was sure that I had written in this thread...
Oh well, I play a pyromancer who currently runs around in the gold-brimmed set with a black knight shield and Lightning Spear+3. At Anor Londo at the moment. Died a couple of times at the snipers, but I'm about to give it a go with my poison arrows soon!

Mainly use my spear in combat. Only bring out the pyromancy during really tough fights, but even then it's normally safer to go melee. The range of pyromancy spells are so damn short that you can hardly cast anything without getting interrupted, and once you do you get stuck in an evil loop of interrupts.
The Iron Golem boss was pretty silly though. Threw a couple of Fire Orbs at him and he was down without even touching me.

I play as a warrior named Whynn.

He wields the Drake Sword and the Knight´s Shield though he is leaning toward a Halberd to replace the non-scaling Drake Sword.

I look forward to seeing how he fears in The Depths...

Wish him luck...
Drake Sword will be more than ok for The Depths. The area you should fear is Blight Town, which comes next. Damn annoying place, but if you have the Master key you can skip most of it and pretty much run straight to the boss.

I have a level 52 pure mage for Anor Londo Pvp. He has 44 Int and can hit 1500 damage to 1 shot other players.

I have a level 132 vitality tank who uses a lightning repeating crossbow + lightning/fire longsword + maxed pyromancy glove for high lvl pvping at the kiln.

I also have a level 65 faith pure who is my "main" that I am rebeating the game with currently. I just need a few more hours to get to Gwyn and kill him for his lightning bolt.

Then I have a level 440ish with maxed vitality and almost all combat stats. I stopped at 50 for strength, but will one day finish that off too.

All of my characters can rape face in pvp, but I wouldn't recommend the int based mage due to the ring of fog. Ring of fog makes otherwise overpowered magic spells useless, and because of that vitality tanks are much better right now.

I never went the real route myself. Only far enough to get the Iato blade(you gotta make a perfect jump a little bit into Blight Town).
If you want some tips you can read on, but if you prefer to have the area unspoiled... don't. :)

Bring a bow and lots of arrows so you can pull the mobs one by one and you should be fine. There will be enemies blowing toxic darts at you, so Spider Shield is a must since it nullifies poison. It drops somewhere in The Depths, can't remember where exactly.
Good news is that the toxic blowers doesnt reaspawn once they've died, so if you happen to get the toxic debuff just suicide run and take out the ones nearby.

With Drake Sword the regular mobs should die in about four hits. I upgraded mine to +4 before entering, which helped a lot with the boss in there as well, but overall it's a real waste of dragon scales. I was going to upgrade one of my heavy dragon weapons, but I really dislike the slow weapons in this game and figured that I might as well go with the Drake Sword until I got my lightning weapon.

You can also cheat a bit with the first three enemies in Blight Town. Pull them with the bow, run back and climb the first ladder and they'll fall to their deaths eventually.

Flame Knight. Level 123.
Im wearing a mix of Havels Armor with the Elite Knight Armor +5. ((Just the right balance so im only heavy encumbered instead of over encumbered thanks to Havel's Ring))
I normally wield the Chaos Flamberge +5 and the Hallow Soldier Shield +15((<3 it)), or i use the Dragon Great Sword +4 two-handed if something needs to die fast.

I have +15 Pyromancy, but only 3 attunement Slots, 2 of which i use with the Great Chaos Fireball ((<3 pretty death)), and Combustion.

I also carry a stack of 32 Homeward Bones. Im a bit of a coward, and will HAUL-ARSE is i think im about to die. It used to be a stack of 50.

Warrior, around level 65. I can carry a max of 15 Estus Flasks +3 at the moment.

-Right hand: Winged Spear and Longbow.

I like using a spear so I don't have to get right in an enemy's face to hit them. The longbow is mainly used to draw single enemys out a group, or off a narrow ledge to a place where I feel more comfortable fighting them.

-Left hand: Spider Shield and Talisman.

Spider Shield has good defense and poison resistance. I use the talisman to cast healing miracles.

I wear a mix of light and heavy armor while wearing Havel's Ring so I can have good defense while keeping some mobility. I think the other ring I'm wearing is the Ring of Steel Protection. In my inventory I keep the Gold Hemmed armor set for poisonous areas and the Dingy set for curse resistance.
