I miss the Good Old Days of The Demo TOO...(sobbing)....HobbesMkii said:Yah, I miss the good old days of the demo. You'd think they'd at least make the level the first level because that'll be the one that trains you how to work everything, but no. Nowadays, demos are just the most attractive sections of the game.

You just wanted to see Laura Croft....Kojiro ftt said:I totally agree, Shamus.
I think the last good demo I played was Tomb Raider Underworld. But I use the word "good" loosely there. It was "good enough" to confirm that I wanted to buy the game. But if I wasn't already interested, I don't think it would have sucked me in.
I agree with this, though I felt like everyone else that Resi 5 was utterly underwhelming compared to RE4. I'd also add that everyone else seems to have completely missed the fact that RE5's demo was in two parts. Sure you had the timed arena section, but you also had the later level section that ended with the chainsaw mini-boss. In addition, for RE5 one of the main draws for Resi fans was the story, so understandably Capcom didn't really want to give anything away.Fredrick2003 said:I don't understand why people hated the Resident Evil 5 demo. When I finally got the game I could say "hey here's that part from the demo" and it would play exactly the same.
I agree that the demo was thin on story, but Resident Evil 5 didn't really have any story to speak of until chapter 4, and even then it was just a short wrap up of the main storyline, which I personally thought they did very well.
I think the demo was mainly for people to just see how it played, so fans of the series new that they were getting into, and so newcomers could see if they liked the controls.
