Name: Magnus (was Logan) Gyre
Race: Nord
Sex: Male
Age: 36
Birthsign: The Warrior

Ideal facial details: Typical Nordic(sh?) features, fair hair and blue eyes with a well groomed beard. Two scars, the first from his first encounter with a young buck and the second five years later from the same buck.

Skills and Combat Style: Blade, Light Armour and Block. Tends to rush in heavy with a claymore and generally prefers light fur armours to anything heavy. Has some experience with bows, but avoids to avoid ranged combat.
Allegiance: Fighters Guild and Hunters Association, Thieves Guild in his youth.

Bio: Magnus, born Logan, descends from a tribe just South of Dawnstar. Has a penchant for fine wines and game meat, usually together. Before his arrest Logan had many adventures in Cyrodiil, where he grew up. His younger years consisted of ale fuelled brawls in taverns across Cyrodiil, the most notable of which took place at the Roxey Inn where Logan accidentally killed a man with a pitcher.

From there he fled with authorities hot on his trail, but he managed to lose them as snowstorm hit as he approached Bruma. Logan hid in the Jeralls for weeks, sneaking into Bruma once a week to steal food and then quickly retreating back to his mountain hide away. During one of his trips a local guard caught him in the act of theft and arrested him on the spot. It was three months into his sentence that a mysterious Redguard slipped into Logan's cell, claiming to belong to the Thieves Guild and extended an invitation to the young Nord.

Logan escaped with the guild's help and continued working for the guild until his early twenties, where he formally left and used his earnings to build a cabin North of Dragon Claw Rock. It was here that he assumed the name Magnus and began his life as a hunter at 22. He was injured by a young buck's antler when he was 23 and then again by the same buck when he was 28, after which he left the creature alone and came to admire it as he watched the buck grow old from within his cabin.

At 34 Magnus had learned about his ancestry from a close friend from his thieves guild days. He continued hunting, selling the pelts and meat to traders to fund expeditions into Skyrim where he hoped to discover remnants of his past. On his 36th birthday Magnus bid his friends farewell and boarded up his cabin before setting off to Skyrim to investigate the remains within a ruin South of Dawnstar.

Upon crossing the border he was arrested. He is awaiting execution for falsely claiming rights to the throne of Skyrim and incriminating himself in several murders of legitimate heirs; claims he does not remember making. By now Magnus is tired and is sick of fighting. He just wants peace and so accepts of his grim fate. His last request is to die with a bottle of Tamika Vintage 399 in his stomach.
Fantastic backstory and character design mate and shows real life experiences on how one's life can change and evolve. Love it! =) In a world with tea spoon shallow protagonists, isn't it rewarding to create our own engaging characters on a more personal level?

Oh definitely. There's only so many times you can play through the game as a game before you need to experience it as an adventure, I think that the Elder Scrolls games understand this more than any other modern RPGs and give you, the player, room to expand on your own characters. It's easier to feel something and develop connections to a characters you've seen grow and it's all the more rewarding to see them succeed and more traumatising to see them fail.

Mods help too by adding functionality and cosmetic additions to an already fantastic role playing experience. Oblivion is about as close you can get to a video game pen and paper RPG these days, used to be Ultima's job.

Probbaly my usual.

That is to say an Argonian Swordmage type who focuses on sword use (either 2 hand or with a shield) with self enhancement spells and fire magic (custom 'flame claws' touch fire damage, custom'fire spit' ranged fire damage and custom 'fire breath' fire AoE)

I've pretty much been playing a draconic Argonian all along.

Race: Imperial (Human)
Name: Shaun Stormeth
Ideal facial details: Lightning blue eyes, mabey a scar.
Sex: Male
Skill: Blades, Heavy Armour, healing, blacksmithing, sneaking, well all of them
Birth Sign: The fighter (Or was it warrior?)
Allegiance/ Guilds: Every guild, trying to kill the Brotherhood.
Moral: Lawful good.

Basicly im going to use my imagination for this, my character is my oblivion character exept he used all of his power and he does not believe in the gods, he believed in one god, so the Gods thought that he had WAY too much power and might change the world so they asorbed all of his skills and powers, erased him from history, erased all of his memorys, and made him to be executed in Skyrim, but little did thye know that this act has awakend his Dragon Blood and made him regain his memories, and this time he is going to regain all his powers, skills and make more history for himself.

I love making backgrounds. :3

As for me?

Race?

Probably Dunmer. Dunmer rule.

Name?

Elothai (Same name as my Oblivion Dunmer. I'm going to link the two in my mind somehow. Perhaps an ancestor?)

Ideal facial details? (a beard maybe or some scars? be creative! ^^)

Dark blue skin, with a pale face, full dark beard and medium length, wavy hair. Very lithe, yet strong.

Sex?

Hopefully with my new wife, sure. ;)

Skill Specialty and Combat Style?
Elothai has always been a good, all-rounder, with exception to maybe bows. He prefers spells as ranged attacks, with the melee style of longsword and shield. Though this go-round, I may go for dual wielding short and long swords.

Star Sign/Birth Sign?

Thief. Always. Despite the fact that he rarely steals.

Allegiance / Guilds or Groups?

All of them, slowly rising to become head of each.

Other personal roleplay information?

I've always played Elothai as I started him in Oblivion, as an amnesiatic who now seeks his fortune, and past, through adventure and fame.

Also, great thread. It's very entertaining reading. ^_^

I always create two main characters - one main game that is inherently 'good' and one 'evil'. So therefore:

'Good' Character
Race: Breton
Name: Clara, perhaps.
Ideal facial details: Nothing - though I guess 'pretty' could count here.
Sex: Female
Skill Specialty and Combat Style: Magica especially, mixed in with archery and blades
Star Sign/Birth Sign: The Mage - max magica.
Allegiance / Guilds or Groups: All that are good, so to speak.
Other personal roleplay information: I'll pretend she is a direct descendant to my Oblivion character. Therefore they look similar.

'Evil' Character
Race: Dark Elf
Name: Neasa (although that's a little cutsey, so it may change)
Ideal facial details: Very beautiful, but nary a smile on her face. :p
Sex: Female
Skill Specialty and Combat Style: Archery and blades, and big use of illusion and destruction.
Star Sign/Birth Sign: Thief, maybe? Doesn't really matter.
Allegiance / Guilds or Groups: All that are evil, so to speak.
Other personal roleplay information: Again, direct descendant of my Oblivion character.

Cool idea for a thread - I love reading what everyone is thinking of making.

Mine will be a young dark elf named Kittario.
Morally, he's good. He doesn't like to fight unless he's forced to.
He is a stealth, acrobatics specialist with some budding magical abilities.

Born to a poor mother, he was sold as a servant to a noble family in the imperial city. All that's left from his family is a little pet mouse named Zii that he keeps with him (and talks to when lonely) at all times. He remained with the nobles for all of his youth as their servant. During a shopping trip in the market, he was ruffed up by a fairly racist guard as a suspect in some ongoing thievery going on in the city. Losing his cool, he accidentally lost control and blasted the guard, killing him. Of course it sent the whole of the guard after him. He outran the guards and headed for the hills, leaving his old life behind. He was caught crossing the border into Skyrim, and apprehended. Then he learns that he's a dragonborn (I guess?) So begins his journey.

if possible i'll follow the same guidelines that i played oblivion with...

Race - Not sure yet
Name - Nathaniel Essex
Sex - male (given the name)
Skill Specialty and Combat Style - probably bows/magic, similar to the OP
Star Sign/Birth Sign - just for a bit of variety, recently i've tended to play under the sign of the atronach (a little more challenge/change of gameplay tactics). normally i immediately start questing for items to further boost my spell absorption, so when i was playing oblivion i had it at 90-100% for most of the game. a complete immunity to magic/ability to essentially reflect spells back at the caster was fantastic
Allegiance / Guilds or Groups - whatever pays the most

Thanks man. ^^ Yeah people, including you, have some wonderful ideas. Just a shame we only got to about 2 pages of comments. =p Still great though to read.

I like the way your character uses his fame as a direct benefit to himself and uses his social influence to greater his renown. He must be quite a straight shooting sorta guy that's not afraid to have his efforts and extraordinary abilities appreciated.

Basically, yeah. One of his greatest pleasures is coming home to his house in Anvil, after a long dungeon crawl, and sorting through his loot. Spending hours finding out which treasures are to be used in futher adventuring, sold to the local shops, or displayed among the myriad other shineys decorating his abode.

He is a rather straigh-shooter, as you say. He always does what he considers 'right', though that definition can flex based on perception, and he's aware of this. Also, his Spirit Ancestor's name is Drioak, and was, in life, a hoarder, so he too enjoy spending time with Elothai as he peruses his loot and places it on display proudly on tables, windowsills, mantles, etc.

Oh, I forgot, he is also very dedicated to the Nine, though not devoutly. He doesn't attend regular worship, but often seeks wisdom and favor from the gods, primarily Talos and Akatosh. In fact, he only goes to the temples if they are invovled in missions or if he was poisoned or diseased - before he learned to counter these effects himself with magic.)

Man, I could go on for hours. That's why I love this game. Someone said it best earlier, this is as close as you get to pen and paper RPGS in a videogame as you can get, imho.

To be a little less organized as the first post.
Probably of Nord race, a melee-mage with touch spells specializing in Unarmed combat, Destructive Magic and Restoration.

Fantastic. =) So are Kittario's magical abilities derived from him being an unknown Dragonborn? Also, now that he's heading to Skyrim, will he be looking for a secluded life in the city as a servant once again (as maybe that's all he's ever known and is his realm of comfort) Or will he fend for himself in the wilderness in a cabin somewhere maybe to try avoiding the guards if they were to come knocking in the city?

Race: Imperial
Name: Cyrus
Ideal facial details: Short military style hair, with faint scars on one side of his face
Sex: Male
Skill Specialty and Combat Style: Sword and board
Star Sign/Birth Sign: The Warrior
Allegiance / Guilds or Groups: Fighters Guild and the Imperial Legion
Other personal roleplay information:
Born and raised in Bruma, Cyrus is descended from a long line of Legionnaire soldiers, one of whom fought in the Battle of the Imperial City during the Oblivion Crisis.

In preparation for his future career in the Legion, Cyrus trained as a youth with the local Fighters Guild and earned himself a few scars for it. He also took brief lessons in the Great Chapel of Talos, developing sufficient skill in Restoration to provide immediate first aid, while at the same time, enhancing his already quick wit to allow him to diffuse arguemtns that could have devolved into fights.

Cyrus eventually followed his parents footsteps into the Legion, and was first assigned to patrolling within Cyrodiil to prevent banditry. He was eventually re-assigned to the Cyrodiil-Skyrim border to help re-pascify the border due to increased political tension. After witnessing one of his senior officers taking bribes from rebel Nords, Cyrus was arrested on charges of sedition, since he had reported the crime to another corrupt officer in on the act.

My first (of many):

A ranger type fellow; as skilled in speech-craft and lock-picking, as he is with a blade and his bow. The moral upstanding type; unless the moment calls for sinking his blade into some cretin.

Very nice, not many people take the idea option of being a former guard, love the tie into being framed as well. Will he be looking for guard work in Skyrim also or does the warrant for his arrest stretch to even there?

Thanks! I didn't want my character to be related to the Champion of Cyrodiil. I felt like mine needed something more grounded with the events around Skyrim. As for the warrant, it would extend into Skyrim, but due to Cyrus' loyalty to the Empire, he'd still work for the Legion if the opportunity arose.

Dunmer or Imperial male Assassin named Entreri Silentstep, trained in light armor, blade, restoration, block, destruction, sneak, acrobatics, security, and marksman. basically, good at killing, good at not dying. has a from an early training session with a particularly sadisitic Dark Brother. star sign is the shadow, allied with the thieves guild, dark brotherhood, and fighters guild. keeps a neatly trimmed beard to help combat the fierce cold in the north. wears light clothing and prefers to get up close, but like all good dunmer knows his share of magic and marksman. can open most locks with magic to save time, but can always pick if he doesn't have the right scroll. has no real friends or alliances, looks out for maybe two or three people other than himself. still has a moral compass, but it can be overlooked. believes life is empty, has no value. when he goes after someone, the rest of their existence is moot. no matter how much stronger, or faster, or smarter they are than him, he will bring them down, no matter how many times he has to respa... plan. will not harm innocents if it can be helped
