Me, being a long time lurker (since the 15th of August 2007) finally decided to create an account and post my thoughts.

This thread is mostly because in six months I need to send a résumé to my nearest CEGEP and pray to God I picked right from the billions of job opportunities out there.

So enough with motives,
I just want to know what your dream job was when you we're young and idiotic like me
(16 or around then not when you we're 6, please I think everyone will be sick when they see the 9th "I wanted to be Chuck Norris")
and then state what reality really gave you

I for one, am extremely curious on what Iron Ninja does for a living.

I work in Tech Support currently, and while it wasn't number 1 (that was rock superstar, which i am still actively persuing), it was number 2 or 3 due mainly to my awesome customer service skills and tech know-how. all in all i'm pretty happy here. I have worked for a call center selling internets and feilding bill complaints, and stacked shelves. those were not fun jobs

I am young (15 years old, to be more precise) and idiotic. And my dream job is either musician (I play guitar and will learn violin) or game developer. Those two cause music, video games and computers are my passions.

Since I was 12 years old(now I'm 17) I wanted to be a professional drifter in Formula D. I'm still trying but its really hard to be a girl in something that is totally dominated by men. But right now I'm going to school to be a A.I. Programmer for video games. I am very good when it comes to programming and like it a lot but I still want my first dream to come true.

I wanted to work for NASA since I was 14, now 23, although I'm still on the science path NASA seems a bit far fetched, maybe a phd at a nearby University, the sun is an amazing thing and has dazzled me more than anything else I've come across.

random fact, the sun spins faster around it's equator approximately 25 days up to near 30 days at the poles.

main stream, highly funded cultural anthropologist - Comic illustrator, and animator.

what reality dumped on me?

anthropologist who " sometimes" gets to help a colleague with small things, mostly "second opinions" or entering data, though most often as a consultant for individuals outside the field looking to make an event, or a story or something more accurate....

but again thats rare anymore

( Under the main radar) Comic illustrator, worked with a few small indi companies before I said " to hell with it, Im gonna go solo and work on MY stuff" so I have a small fanbase, but I've not been doing it long and we have to start somewhere.

Indi animator...this is what gets me my day to day living, nothing remotely impressive, it's basically taking contract bids for things like local commercials, and sometimes picking up slack work from others.

so basically I got want I wanted, just at the lower rungs.. but hell I'm just starting to kiss my 30's so I have plenty of time ahead of me..

but I can't argue, I own a nice house, am 100% debt free ( never never racked up consumer debt.. all mine was student loans, ( 11 years in uni gets costly) medical bills, etc...) have two son's who are healthy, and highly educated and bright, a wonderful spouse.... I can't complain.

while it's not exactly like I dreamed when IO was a kid in my teens and such...well.. thats life, roll with it.

Genetic Engineering, bringing you a better you (well not you specifically but hopefully your offspring will be a better, less subjective to some diseases you(although albeit that technology is probably out of this generations reach.). Of course my dream job may not become true because finding the gene to CD4 seems a lot more unethical to actually let some one get it and then treat them. (I should probably stop)

My dreams job is to be a career musician, not even like a rockstar, just making enough cash doing music to not have to work. In real life I'm high school student, who's currently in preparation to be a History teacher.

Dream Career: Some sort of writing job, a career as a game designer or a professorial position at a fun university.

Reality: I'm a paper pushing middle man.

I am 15 and have no idea about what I want to do, no goals, and no motivation to achieve those nonexistent goals.

I too dream of being a published and successful writer. Right now, however, I'm stuck pushing carts at a hardware store. I'm only 18, so I've got plenty of time to make my dream a reality, but right now life sorta sucks.

I too am young, handsome and idiotic, I wish to be a mechanical or civil engineer, though I have little motivation, a fact of which I am reminded quite frequently by my mother.
