So if you understood the name of the topic. It's about your dreamed game that you wanted ever since you started playing games, you finally get it in the year 2030 what is it?

Just to limit you a little I have 2 little rules you have to stick when you describe your game ([sub]otherwise it would just turn into a topic about great mixes of rpg-fps-rts-uss-etc[/sub]) :

- Stick to existing "types" of games, I mean if you dream of an rts with vast rpg elements than well you can, but at least try to stick to the existing types.
- Focus on the gameplay aspects, we can't dream what graphics will games have in 2030 (if we will live that long ;P), so just tell us what you think the gameplay ITSELF should be.

So my dreamed game of year 2030 would be a pure blood RPG. But not the type we all know. I'd love it to be a game that is in fact JUST LIKE playing with your friends with the book version of say D&D or Warhammer. Meaning that you in fact say the lines yourself, you are not given the 3 options (good, neutral and evil)so you are not limited to going either the path of good or evil. I think it would be great to play as a total psycho that just after saving a maiden in distress is like:

"Oh I don't need no prize maam, It's good enough to see you saved...(pathetically good) But if you get in troubles ONE MORE TIME! I'm going to slaughter you like a pig!" (Evihl ]:>)

And it would have AI that would in fact react properly to ANY of your action.
I remember there being a game (not an rpg, more like a showcase to AI possibilities) where you could in fact talk to the AI and it would respond, the problem was that the "AI" was in fact bunch of scripts that were reacting to keywords so if you wrote "My neighbour is such a whore" the character would react "GTFO! You are calling me a whore!". That happened 90% of the time.
In my dreamed game the AI would respond "yes she is" :p... well you get the overall idea.

Also the character movement would be mind controlled so it would respond to any of your moves.

OK I got a bit carried away... anyway you get the overall feeling of what I want you to write in this topic so let your imagination free and share your crazy ideas with the world.

Who knows in 2030 it might actually come out...

My dream is a game exactly like the one you just described.

No? Ok, I want a game that prepares my meals, cleans my house and walks my dog while I play Fallout: New Vegas. That would be awesome.

change the topic to "Your dream game comes out in the year 2030. What's it like?" please, or you'll make me cry.

One that might be feasibly possible right now. Remember Space battles in Star Wars Battlefront 2? Remember MAG? Combine the two. Have massive ships with multiple entry points, full weapons systems, and tons of combat tactics. Remember the escape pods in Halo? Imagine 50 people piling into 7 or 8 of those in order to dock with the opposing command ship. Sabotage, massive space battles, boarding parties, all perfectly legitimate strategies.

excuse accepted. Sorry, I'd just finished correcting about 90 English papers from Japanese middle school students writing about "show and tell." It turns me into a bit of a grammar nazi ;)

I'm not sure. But I would want the holodeck from Star Trek. Something where you experience the game rather than play it.

I don't know what type it would be. Probably something Mass Effect-y where I had action and a great story to play through, errr... experience.

It has a compelling story, and every graphic designer has been laid off because fuck the trend towards polygon counts and rendering speeds, I am SICK of SEEING being the only visceral avenue through which games companies are trying to reach me. I want to FEEL. I want "M" for "Mature" to mean not that the game is full of bare-big-breasted women and sex and blood and gore, I want it to mean that the story is written for adults, designed to make you think and wonder and consider the world we exist in in a different light, because I'm an ADULT now, and I'll be damned if I spend even $15 on a game that's less thoughtful than I'm being when I'm sitting on my ass staring at the wall doing nothing.

Or it's an MMO where players have more control over the environment, where the world actually changes as the story is told and the GMs interact with the players as gods and wizards in the world. This one, I've considered myself before, but it's hard to see how you'd make it work; the questing systems that drive so many MMOs would have to be discarded entirely, because even as you do them and achieve objectives the world doesn't change; or, if it does (as certain quests in Wraith of the Lich King cause), it doesn't change for everyone all at once.

It's ambitious. I don't know if it can be done and make a lot of money.

I see myself starting off in a first person fantesyesk game, Shoveling out a stable while my father naps quietly in the corner. A small inner monologe speaks in the players voice (where everything is voiced, no i use text and everyone else speaks) discribing the situation to build the characters stats. "My father is a lazy drunk and i dispise him, but i do this work so he wont get fired and we starve" Or "My father told me to shovel his stables while he sleeps off the liquor he stole from the master, he shared some with me." Or "My father injured his back days ago when he tried to ride a horse, if his work is not finished, the maser will throw us on the side of the road, so i take up his work to help the man i idolize."

Sort of in a Elder scrolls kinda way. A very deep self sustaning AI where people harvest and serve the upper crust, other work stalls, which if the player breaks them, you could find them on the streets begging for change, or in the forest as a thief. A charismatic person can rally people to them, against the oppressors, or choose to be a mewling subject to the royals, gaining their trust, friendship, and through luck, land and title of your own, your own men, to train, to arm, to conquor. Friends become enemies as you ride through their towns taking what you want!

A Very long game giving you multiple ways on how to play. A lone huntsman can live off the land and build a home for himself, a skilled craftsman can take on apprentices and do commissions, gets great fame, a knight will be a skilled jouster, embarrassing his foes on horseback. A theif can use his skills to help himself, help others, help the crown, or even help take land back, ruling as a Bandit king as undesirables rally under your name. Unsure on the acceptance of Fantasy in that right, more races gives the player more content, lead human armor against elven archers as Dwarves tunnel beneath them and crash below in the middle of the battle crushing both by surprise! Orcs raid countrysides by small bands to whole nomdic armys, dare you try to go so far as add the seas? Kraken and all manner of sea monsters devour ships by the hundreds as sea faring pirates brave the danger to rob and steal, while secretive merfolk observe from below, trying to hide their identity from the warlike surface dwellers.

The thought of it makes me want to try out a large forum RP within that respects rewarding players for injinuity and skill rather then tossing stats.
And punishing Godmodders and twinks with vengful Wrath.

Any one ever see http://www.cleverbot.com/. It's AI at it's best and could be the future of gaming AI.

Anyway, my dream game is pretty much Fallout 3 with better AI and the ability to choose a few characters to be your friend rather than having to leave them every few minutes. Also an open world game thats so large that instead of boarders it actually raps around like the actually earth. Oh and them game will have tits.

That's no AI :p... that's just a scripted answering machine programmed to throw random literature references in your face. When I asked it about the universe it said 42 (reference to Hitch-hikers guide to Universe :)). A lot of other stuff like that :). Quite fun though.

I find it enjoyable that when I call the AI "dumb" it calls me stupid, and whan I say it's not very smart it just keeps repeating "Yes I am!" ;P

Bot just told me :
"Well that's it. That is the last time I'm taking you calling me bad names. Bad bot! Go to your corner!"

Oo... bot just told me to go to a corner...

An epic RPG/Action Adventure game that takes place in a massive fictional land, with tonnes of stats, items, storys and henchmen to be had.
The stats would be along a Fallout standerd where you are give all the skills to use and can evlove your character however you like, and incorperate the Mass Effect system of unlocking something at a milestone of the upgraging.
And yeah, shit like that.

City of heroes with all of the MMO features taken out, excepting for massive map size and quests enough for a particularly antsy king.
It would basically say to you "Ok, do you want to have the powers of Zeus, Odin and Ra combined, or perhaps just be better than average? Somewhere in the middle?"
The difficulty you will experience during the game will be shown to you as you roll your character; not limiting your awesomeness but probably making you feel silly if you make it too easy.
The point of the game? What point?

It's an RPG like Dungeons and Dragons, with a complex morality and alignment feature, endless character, stat and build customization, flexibility in quests and a living, breathing believable world.

But set in a world that's a mix of fantasy (dragons, golems, magic and stuff) and the industrial revolution (trains, rifles and factories). But a world that takes itself seriously, like Fallout or Arcanum did, and not something cartoony like World of Warcraft.

And then it has a deep, involving story, spanning years in-game and bringing a character from a young, scrappy adventurer to a grizzled and hardened veteran who has seen all the horrors life has to offer and survived.

Man, I would play the shit out of that game.

I will settle for nothing less than total sensory immersion into some of the filthiest H-games that Japan can produce for me.
