I was just curious as to other peoples earliest gaming memory. I know some of you may have only been gaming a few years but it would be great to hear what got you into it in the first place. For everyone else maybe some nostalgic memories of when you were 6 years old.

Ive been playing games for almost as long as i can remember and started out with a gameboy and a SNES. For the gameboy I just remember the classic super mario brothers and how I sould never quite get past level 10. For the SNES I remember the awesome that was the polygon filled land of Star Fox.

My earliest gaming memory was dying during the Stampede stage of The Lion King for Sega Genesis. A lot. Man, I was bad back then...

Ski Free, Chip's Challenge, Age of Empires (back then, I thought it was Vampires), Riven, and Bubble Bobble. I don't remember any specifics, other than I figured out how to outrun the yeti on Ski Free with the "F" key.

Super Mario Land or Kirby's Dream Land on the original Gameboy, or Zelda on Game & Watch.

At the tender age of five I went to my cousins house to play and I found him instead playing his his brand new NES. He was playing a game called "Super Mario Bros." It had been out for about 3 or 4 months but I'd never even HEARD of a video game.
He told me to be careful after explaining the premise (get to the flag) he handed me the control and said "But you have to be careful"
"Why?" I asked
"Because if you touch the bad guys" (he points on the screen to a goomba) "You'll die"
I immeditly dropped the control and went outside. As I feared the death the goomba would bring to me.

Yes, I thought the game would literally kill me. Hey! It was 1985, give me a break!

I remember having to have my dad beat the bowser levels in super mario bros because those levels made me nervous.

I remember playing Wolfenstein 3d (or "the Bad Guy Game" as we dubbed it) with my dad and getting mad that he liked to switch to a knife, sneak up behind a Nazi, stab him once, run away, and let him chase us.

I also remember playing with my cousin's big chunky gameboy everytime we went to his house because my mom didn't like videogames in our home.

Good times, good times.

The earliest thing I remember was a terrible edutainment thing on the Vic-20 where you played a tiny guy flying a toothbrush over an endless gumline. I wish I could remember the name.
The first real game was Joust on the C64.

Getting my cousins old gameboy because he had just gotten a color, and having two games with it, Baloon Kid, and Pokemon yellow.

It's either The Secret of Monkey Island, which is probably why I continue to say it's the greatest game since ever.

Or Maths Blaster which was about aliens on a spaceship clearing up the litter out in space with maths! I think I still have it somewhere.

Oh! I also remember my dad playing Mafia (and me playing a bit too!), but that was much later.

Putt-Putt and Fatty Bear's activity pack, my friends.

Edit: actually, probably Bachman on my parents old Powerbook 165 or Super Mario Bros at my cousin's house.
