Most recent one would have to be on Killing Floor when I joined a late game with my friend Dell. He and I didn't want to go our normal roles, so he went Firebug, and I went Berserker, after about 40 minutes of lengthy fighting with the horde of experiments, we made it to the final round. With an entire squad of 6 men I was the last standing against the Patriarch, and I had a Katana. I ran out into the street and he appeared in front of me, I just kept slashing at his head hoping for the extra sound that confirms the headshot. His AI was a bit buggy that night, so instead of shooting me, or blowing me up, or using his chest impale thing, he kept lazily swinging at me until I finally killed him. I ended that game with a red blinking screen, 1 remaining health, and the ominous "oh my god"'s of my teammates. Best game ever.

I've told it before but I'll tell it again.

It was the peak of my Counterstrike: Source career. I was playing on the Terrorist team, 12 vs 12, on some complicated, maze-like custom map. As often was the case I was slow with my weapon purchases. No biggy usually, I can catch up quickly enough.

But there was no more team to catch up to.

Within mere moments my entire team was killed off, while not even killing a single Counter Terrorist, while I was buying weapons.

Shit.

Of course I was urged to just die so the game could continue properly. And because the server had a betting system, everyone had already bet against me. Why bother eh?

However, what followed was a crazy, adrenaline-fueled and Rambo-like spree of grenade throwing, sneaking and stabbing, sniping, running and gunning and lightning fast reflexes making me kill off the entire enemy team on my own. The most satisfying multiplayer experience I ever had.

After that game I quickly closed CS:S and never played it as much as I did again. I knew I'd never top that last stand.

PAYDAY: The Heist, level: Panic Room, Reputation level 21 (their are 198 reputation levels, I had bugger all upgrades), difficulty: normal (before you go "You suck!" I need to point out that Panic Room has only been completed 48% of the time on normal)

Okay, so basically at one point we have to get up on the roof and plant C4 and defend the roof from snipers and various SWAT officers (some have lots of armour, some have Tasers, etc). We've already dropped 3 ammo bags and a health bag (which all could only be used twice) and the SWAT were getting vicious. All of a sudden 2 of us drop in an open area, making it impossible to pick them up without dying. How did we know that? because the other guy next to me ran out and tried to save them and promptly fell down himself. We had no hostages, and the re-spawn time without hostages is 4 minutes. I have 100 rounds for my assault rifle, 40 rounds for my pistol, and 50 rounds for my SMG. I start of by blind firing the AR to take out or stumble the enemies. I run down stairs and get myself into a choke point which funnelled the SWAT and forced them to come at me 1 by 1. I lasted a minute doing very well, but ammo only lasts so long, and eventually I was down to nothing. So I run back further inside the house, melee killing 1 or 2 FBI agents along the way (Oh yeah, they send in FBI) and end up getting a few bullets for my pistol. As I turn the corner there is a bulldozer (Toughest enemy in the game) and he turns and starts unloading at me with his shot gun. I manage to get a few round in him, but he still isn't going down, and my health is in the red zone. As I turn to run my buddies tell me that I still have to wait 2 minutes until one of them comeback, and as they say that I pick up one round for my pistol, turn around and drop the Bulldozer. At that point my reputation level is increased to 22, giving me full health and ammo, and I go on a berserker killing rage, taking out all the snipers and SWAT team on the roof and lasting long enough that all 3 teammates came back to life.

Man that was a fun game.

I was playing a zombie mod on COD4. I was stood, ledging on top of a fence, picking them off. My last ally had just died and there were a ridiculous amount of zombies all horded around me. Eventually I only had 1 RPG and one hand grenade left, I decided to go down in a blaze of glory. I shot the RPG directly below myself and amazingly it didn't kill me. Armed only with a single hand grenade, I pulled the pin, cooked that bad boy, jumped down and took a load of the fuckers with me.

Devil Survivor: I was fighting Belial when he successfully wiped out everyone on my team except Yuzu. I just went head first into him because his minions were closing in on me and wasting anymore time healing would get me killed by his bullcrap all-range inferno move. It was down to using my best ice skills until I was completly drained of magic and both of Yuzu's demons were killed at the end of Belial's turn. He was one pixel of health left from dying so I was forced to just do normal attacks. Luckily he missed on his next turn and Yuzu took out the last tiny speck of health he had left with a pathetic but decisive punch. Way to pull through Yuzu. O_O

I had one in the Halo Reach multiplayer. Me and my brother, both incredibly low rankings join a game of 4 v 4 multiplayer. This was early days, the enemy had two colonel and the the rank just below it. The game starts, both of the other players leave and it is left to me and my brother. For 20 minutes we fought and fought , gaining the lead and never relinquishing it, until the both we and the other team are down to 4 kills each to victory. My brother and I look at each other, ready our weapons and our overshields and charge the enemies. Both he and I die in the encounter, but with our final grenades take down all four of them. Not only was this a great last stand, but a fine victory and I've remembered it to this day.

Was playing bad company 2 a long time ago playing on Port valdez (my favorite map in BC2 or BF3 thus far). I was running medic with XM8 LMG and we got pushed back to the very last M-Com which was in a massive building (not the one in the double stacks). My entire team was locked at their spawn point besides my squad mates who consisted of an assault guy and an engineer. While the rest of my team was locked in spawn we held off the other 10 or so enemy players for nearly half an hour

What we ended up doing was the assault used the smoke launcher to make us nearly invisible to the outside and anytime someone pierced the cloud they got lit up by my LMG and his AEK while our engi kept putting down mines and sending RPGs at tanks. We must have walked away with at least 20 kills each before the admins kicked and banned us from the server. The three of us have been friends since and were happily awaiting BF4 and still play BC2 and BF3 together on occassion

My only time losing in Civilization III, getting overrun by horsemen hordes, trampling my beautiful empire... we fought hard, but, I was young, my forces, few, and we got stomped on.

And all those times playing solo Firefight in Halo 3: ODST alwys ended like this, after a long, hard battle.

A couple memories spring to mind. None of them are "last stands" per se, but close enough I think.

One was Halo: Reach. It was a 4v4 team deathmatch, where immediately the three on my team (I think they were a party) and one on the other team left. So it was 1v3 in their favor, but these guys weren't the best team players. They spread out for most of the game, allowing me to take them on individually and gain the upper hand. I was 4-5 kills ahead when they figured this out and started grouping up. At this point they took back the lead by a single kill with 10 seconds remaining. I starting sprinting around, trying to find someone to tie the game with. I found one and was able to take him out with him only bringing down my shields but one of his buddies ambushed me and killed me just before the game ended. Because of that, I lost by a single kill, and the guy who got me promptly began teabagging my corpse as was expected. As soon as he did though, his teammate came over and smacked him to kill him. He then looked at my body, bowed his head, and walked away. Maybe he just hated teabaggers and I'm reading too much into this, but I like to think he just didn't want to disrespect me after that game, and a teabagging was not the way to see me go.

Another one back in the L4D2 beta (which had the first two levels of the Parish), we got to the trailer with the indestructible doors just as tank spawned. He tried to get in, but couldn't break down the doors. This was the beta, so we didn't realize he could break the skylight and come in. Sadly, he did know that and crashed down on top of us. We all ran back the way we came, but after exiting I quickly doubled back to the door. The last person was wounded and the tank gave him a smack right out the door, and as soon as he cleared it, I slammed the door on the tank's face. He couldn't break the door to get out and couldn't jump up to the skylight he had come in from. He was completely trapped. Most players know about this now, but I did it back in the beta, I seriously doubt I was the first person, but it wasn't the common knowledge it is now. The tank thrashed around in there so much that it eventually crashed the server and sent us all back into the lobby. I like to think I threw an immovable door in front of the unstoppable tank.

Just yesterday I had a pretty cool moment IRL too. I was playing airsoft with a friend shooting at him from behind a tree. He started flanking me but there was no cover nearby so I sprinted down the hill next to me to get to a small trench down below. I fired as I moved (crappy spring pistol so you had to pull the slide back after each shot) and ran down the hill. I took it a bit to fast and fell just as I reached the bottom. I landed on my stomach and heard my opponent jumping out behind me for a shot. I rolled over and cocked the slide on the pistol at the same time and fired at him without really looking, then scrambled up and ran for the trench I had been aiming for. I heard an "Oww... headshot..." and looked over my shoulder as I was running and saw my friend grabbing his head. We were playing to three hits and that was only the first. Because off that I ended up losing but it was still damned impressive.
