At random points during every 6 months or so, I get the intense need to play Star Wars: Galactic Battlegounds (basically Age Of Empires cross-bred with Star Wars).

That game never gets old for me, which is odd because it's bloody ancient.

Toki Tori. If you haven't heard of it, buy it on Steam right now.

It's deceptively cute, but it has some of the most ingenious puzzles I've ever played through.

Team Fortress 2. Except usually that's my... not fallback game too.
These are my sentiments exactly. I became instantly bored of Mass Effect because of the terrible auto save and the horrible horrible Mako, so I spend most of my time playing TF2.

But all in all i like Mass Effect haha.

Pretty much the Civilization franchise. Although for the most part, I bounce around alot. I guess Tropico 1 would be one that I always revert back to over time. I just wish I could figure out how to hack Tropico and slow down time progression by about 50% or so and adjust prices accordingly. It is my only real qualm with that game.

Right now, FF7 and FFTA2, sometimes oblivion. I always hate the period between the end of an expansion and the coming of a new one, wow to be specific, I just get so damn bored.

NMH. It's cathartic, doing that many wrestling moves and cutting people. And shopping for lightsabers:

So much choice. I can't decide which lightsaber I want.

X-Com 1
Civilization (most recent rendition at the time)
Starcraft
Homeworld
Frontier Elite II

These games just never seem to age on me (although SC1 will be replaced by #2 in a few days)

tough one. I actually don't think I have a fallback game anymore. I can be burnt out on ANY game, even ones that I love. Then again, I always try to never "over-play" them, to avoid this. My fallback game USED to be Oblivion, but even that I find I have a hard time booting up.

Really, even games with fun MP like TF2, halo 3, or either MW can burn me out if I play them too much. I guess I just can't understand that grindy mentality of sinking hundreds of hours into a game to level up, or whatever. How can you not get sick of it?

Battlefront 2 and Republic Commando. I have played both games to DEATH. Oh, and also Fire Emblem. That works well too.

Gears of War 2. It's pretty much got more problems than can be named, but I just love it, I'm a Gears head.
