I've only done one speedrun in my life - Kingdom Hearts II, in just under 8 hours. Only made possible by religiously skipping every cutscene and blasting through the game on easy mode without grinding. Just for comparison, I checked a save file where I'd let all the cutscenes run and had grinded (ground?) for a good while and the clock was up at 40 hours, so heaven only knows just how much of that game is cutscene.
that is pretty amazing, as that is one of the few games in this thread that i actually played/beat fully and knew how long it took.

i've never really done a "speed run" really, i guess maybe star fox on n64? so whatever a "speed" run would be considered for that..there was one time where i didn't die a single time and just played the whole thing through without any pee breaks or anything, so there is that..

Let me ruin your day.

This exists. And people play it. It is fun as all get out, but damn if it doesn't take a lot of time.

Only two games I've rushed through are Final Fantasy IX, for the Excalibur II, which was less than twelve hours, and recently Ico, for the corresponding trophy, which was less than two hours.

I found those two to be too stressful even with the reward at the end so I definitely wouldn't consider doing it for the thrill.

The only speed runs I can remember were:

Mega Man X4 in 54 minutes (as Zero, and I forget the seconds).

and

The original Legend of Zelda in 31:12 minutes.

I suppose I can mention the Excalibur II challenge in Final Fantasy IX, but since that nets you an actual item that you can't get any other way, I dunno if that counts. Still a pain though, especially for me, since I also managed to get everything that was missable along the way due to that damned voice in my head that keeps telling me to get 100% completion and won't shut up until I do.

Managed Metal Gear Solid 2 on Hard mode with all dog tags in about 5.5 or 6 hours (though I had unlocked the stealth camo, so it doesnt really count)

I did Mirror's Edge in about 5 or 6 hours, I'm pretty sure that's no where near the fastest but that's the best I've done haha.
One hour and forty five minutes. Your move.
I think I have done two hours on mirrors edge, Hmm maybe challenge accepted

Portal 2 in 3hours, halo 1 in about 3 hours

Batman Arkham City in 5 hours
Resident Evil 5 in 2 hours and 45 minutes, granted I needed the rocket launcher for every boss fight and Wesker took most of my time since you have to wait through the obligatory walk around to punch the rock
also Super Metroid in 2 hours

I beat Dragon Age in forty minutes.
ಠ_ಠ

I don't really do speedruns. If I like a game enough to be able to do that, I usually get sucked into a 100% playthrough. This summer, I'm thinking about trying a speedrun for Majora's Mask; the fabled 3-Day Run.

I've beaten Super Mario Bros DS, in about 25 minutes.
I've also did a 100% speedrun of Metroid Prime 1 in 4 hours and 20 minutes.

Let me see...

- Beat Mass Effect 1 in 9 hours once.
- Beat SNES Turtles in Time in 20 minutes, single player on hardmode (faster than fastest recorded time on that Speedrun site I can't remember the name of)
- I can beat any old Mario or Sonic game pretty damn fast

I think the timer in DS is messed up. It said my first run through was like seven and a half hours but I know it was much longer than that.
