One of the SCP entries fits well here.

I forget it's number but it's a cake, that every 24 hours multiplies into 15 cakes. If left another 24 hours each of those 15 cakes will multiply into another 15 cakes. The original cake cannot be destroyed.
Basically, if the cake was left alone for too long, or one of the cakes was lost, the universe could end up being filled to the brim with cake, and all life would suffocate on cake.

Every domesticated animal on earth suddenly goes feral and attacks. Obviously not everyone would die from pig bites, but a lot would likely starve.

Gamma Ray Burst [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gamma_ray_burst]. Quick, relatively painless, and unpredictable (so we couldn't really see it coming). I don't want something predictable because then there'd be all sorts of stupidity (namely looting and panic) leading up to the disaster.

Yeah, that one definitely takes the cake. Both terrifying and hilarious. I've been passing that book around at work, people are getting a kick out of it.

On that note, alot of SCP's are about destroying the world in various ways. Some of them are actually kind of neat, while others (see above) are just silly.

Well I had a scenario, but then that little requirement had to go and ruin my fun.

(Original scenario was a dragon-raid on every Starbucks in a major city, like New York or Chicago)

Barring that, a massive low level inversion amidst a winter storm that creates a scenario where it would precipitate freezing rain over the country for about 3 solid days.

Glistening, deadly, surreal glaze of ice more than an inch thick over everything you can see.
Actually, I've seen this happen once, only in a very confined region. It's FREAKY.

A little too possible to be considered absurd, but nonetheless.

The so called grey goo scenario. We're working on creating sustainable nanobots as we speak. If a strain designed to self replicate from resources in the environment goes wrong, it could very swiftly lead to the entire upper crust of the earth and everything on it being "eaten".
