Coldplay. Great sounds, Chris Martin's voice is amazing (especially the high notes) and they generally have good songs. Though there are a few stinkers especially on there X&Y album

Cannibal Corpse because they are one of the few bands that can make me throw up from their album art.

Blink 182! Because I like bad music and I don't care!

And also Dethklok, its the most metal band ever.

And Finally Spinal Tap. The reason of them being awesome.
All those bands are fuxxin hilarious specially Blink 182 with the I wanna fuck a dog in the ass. I would say Children of Bodom, Dream Theatre, Metallica and RATM!! Just because they all have wicked guitar and its a challenge to learn the songs!!

Type O Negative because they kick ass and don't care. Plus I love how thier songs can change so much with ease. It's like listening to several different genres of music, all during the same song.

Radiohead. Their mellow sound is so soft and sweet, their solos are completely amazing shredding (something you wouldn't expect from them), and their lyrics and the meanings behind them are so amazing and stuff that I can relate to.

Weezer because they have a nerdy feel behind their music (at least in their old songs), they have clever lyrics, and they have nice solos.

Dream Theater, because I can only name one band that can debut an album at #6 on the charts with an album that contains only six songs that runs for an hour and fifteen minutes, that has also been playing for over twenty-five years.

Bring Me The Horizon, Blink-182, Animosity, and A Day To Remember.

Those four bands are bands that I'll probably continue to listen to for as long as I live.

BMTH have been with me since I started listening to heavy music, and since I started exploring other bands and sub-genres, I continued to come back to them over and over again.

Blink-182 have been with me since I was a kid, literally. And I still listen to them and their catchy, goofy pop-punk tunes 'til this day.

Animosity is the first band I really felt like I discovered on my own (despite them being a bit famous in the metal scene beforeI did find them) and Leo Miller is the single most influential vocalist I have ever heard.

A Day To Remember combine everything I like about the above three bands into a gooey mess of awesomeness, and I've remembered every word I can on the three albums they have released. They are one of the few bands that have done this to me. I love them, and I get to see them on the 23rd, which I am STOKED for.

but...

Jay-Z remains and will remain my favorite musician of all time. But he's not a band, so whatever. HOV!

Can't say that I have one favorite.
Here's what I like:

Fall of Troy
Chiodos
Protest the Hero
Streetlight Manifesto

and a lot of other stuff already mentioned like Disturbed, Tool, etc

Why?
I'll be honest, I don't pay much mind to lyrics. I pretty much just care about how the music sounds. Time signature changes are a huge plus. I like songs that can keep me on my feet when I'm drumming on my steering wheel while driving.

Bring me the Horizon, for pulling metal from the world of Cookie Monster, and into the world of dolphin screetches! (Which I like way better)

Heck, its hard to say, I can't really say which band I like the most, but these are some that these are musicians, whose work I really value:

Insomnium - pretty young band, but it is changing metal scene with every song they create. Really, their work is fascinating, from their first demos to latest tracks from yet unreleased album. Amazing musicians, deep, poetry-like lyrics, great vocals.

Dark tranquillity - this is more emotional attachment I think, since it is one first heavier bands which got me into metal. But I really like their work, and "Damage Done" album is simply amazing piece of art.

Meshuggah - well, what can I say. Meshuggah is something you have to embrace. They have their own, quite unique sound. Combinig really heavy technical playing with interesting, uniquely melodic, even melancholic parts, not to mention intense vocals. Probably one of the most influential bands in today's metal scene.

Agalloch - pure art in its finest form. Can't really describe their work, you just have to hear it.

Nile - band that got me into death metal. Really, their songs have so much depth, I haven't seen anything like it. Lyrical theme ranging from H.P. Lovecraft books and mythos to Egyptian, Mesopotamic, Hindu etc. history, religion, customs, myths. Great guitar skills, top notch drumming.

Honorable mentions go to Death, Aeternus ("Beyond the wandering moon" is greatest blackened death album ever (imo)), Therion, Gorguts, Kataklysm.

Ooh, it's really close, but I'd have to go with Billy Talent. Why? I like the way their music sounds, of course. :D Especially the voice of the lead singer. He's Canadian!
