I know this board is mostly about video games so maybe this should be in off-topic, so I apologize if that is the case.

Anyways, what is your favorite board game ever? I'm referring to the traditional ones like Monopoly, Life, Clue, et cetera.

My favourite one is the current spin on D&D. Ha-ha!

Sorry, joking.

I love "Don't get angry"

Wikipedia tells me that it's similar to but not the same as Ludo, but I'm not aware of the exact details.

Anyway, the game is great. So great that some friends of mine wanted to make it into an RPG. I don't know if they did but they definitely had a plan and lots of ideas.

:p looks like it'd be pretty much the same as Sorry (run a lap around the board with 4 pieces and get them all back to home base).

Every time I play Monopoly, I inevitably end up hunched over the board, looking at my poor little doggy sitting on Just Visiting and my 3 turned-over properties and I mournfully say "....how did it come to this?"

OT: Favorite boardgame? Chess, obviously. :p

Yep, that's about 90% of the rules there (FYI, the rest is "you roll dice"). Probably has quite a lot of names (as I said, Ludo seems to be quite similar), I just know it under that one.

I love chess. That doesn't mean I'm good at it, though. I tend to play it with select few friends. Away from other people. Last time I played with a friend when we were home, my father came back from work, watched us for a couple of moves and asked what game were we playing. See, his queen was open and I even had a piece threatening her but just none of us noticed that. And the situation had been there from before my father walked in on us.

:p I used to be in the chess club in high school (yup, that's my school nerd badge of honor :p) and we actually went to tournaments and such. My rating was decent, put me in the "a little above average" group. I'm by no means a master, but I'm pretty good. The worst part is the only way to get better is to learn from your mistakes, so you keep notes of every move played in a game so you can go back and review it later. There's nothing worse than getting to the "here's where you fucked up" part and seeing something like that: "You know, you could have taken his queen for free these last 4 moves...why didn't you?" "Well...ummm...cause I'm a dumbass. u.u" God knows I've had my fair share of those moments.

The family cat would frequently interrupt by taking leisurely strolls across the board. Since picking her up would result in the devastation of the mediteranean as paws went in all directions we'd only risk that if it looked like she was about to sit down.

I've never played a game of Monopoly that didn't end in fighting.

And I'm horrible at chess.

So Clue wins.

It was always Colonel Mustard in the kitchen with the machete.

there's several i'de love to play but my favorite would probably be Risk 2210... (I'de love to play the mythology based one by the same group.. and legacy as well)

Clue is good too.. and i'm a sorta decent chess player -shrug-

Love to play some of the fancier games like lords of waterdeep and other more interesting board games like that sometime..

I dunno, I am quite fond of more obscure stuff like Shadows over Camelot or Settlers of Catan. Stuff that is not so, I dunno... Obtuse? Like, it feels it could be in real life. As opposed to chess or checkers, which is just random pieces that really mean and represent nothing other than their respective roles in the game. I like a game that gives you a reason to care. Sorry if this does not make sense, my preferences here are hard to put it into words exactly...
