Ok let me have a quick think...

Super-sarcy, silly, conniving, and generally fun
He just always comes through in everything he does, and he's ne of the ultimate 'Best Friend' characters. It's a shame the prequels were so bad, but at least the character of Obi-Wan was still awesome!
Pure evil, insanely clever, and he decides to become a god because he is bored. Is that not the best motivation you've ever heard?
He's a rip-off Iceman from Topgun, but he is easily my favourite male in RE. A constant source of amusing quotes!
seen here in his KH2 attire. I love the furry jacket most of all, I think.

This was hard, and I've realised most of my character choices are evil or bad. Not sure what that says about me.

Coincidentally I struggled with this list, but had I been listing female characters, I can think of about 10 off the top of my head :p

Number 1 for me would definitely be Nico Robin from One Piece. If one were to ask me to be as chauvinistic as possible, and make my own dream woman, Nico Robin is the closest thing to "the perfect woman" to me.

She's cool, collected, articulate, always knows the right thing to say in practically any given situation. She has a macabre sense of humor that I really like. Her desire to always learn more and better herself is a real turn-on for me, and if you earn her trust, she is faithful to the very end. Seeing her try to live and survive after her backstory is enough to make nearly anyone just want to hug her. Plus, it doesn't hurt that, despite Eiichiro Oda's proportions, she's physically what I find the most attractive. Black hair, blue eyes, tall(which means killer legs, and I'm a legs man), with slightly tanned skin. Hey, I said I was being chauvinistic.

Number 2 would be Liara T'Soni from Mass Effect. I think she is the best developed love interest character from the series, because you have a strong arc that spans across all three games.

I find the way she says nearly everything so innocently in the first game to be adorable, and I couldn't help but be entranced by her big, pretty blue eyes. Watching her progress across the games as she becomes more hardcore by the time the second game kicks in (and reading the comic tie-in, Mass Effect: Redemption), and beating LotSB, and hearing what she has to say afterwards is just great writing for a couple who've had to deal with a two-year disappearance. Her dialog to you, if you beat LotSB before the suicide mission, is much more than "Let's copulate before rushing into certain death", its fear of losing a loved one for a second time. It feels far deeper than any other romantic option, and more interesting to me.

Those are the two I just really like. Others I like are:

Catwoman (Selina Kyle). When she's got a good writer behind her, she's one of my favorite Batman characters.

Jasmine from Disney's Aladdin.

Inara from Firefly.

Major Mokoto Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell.

EDIT: Marion Ravenwood from Indiana Jones.

Captain America was my hero when I was younger. He was brave, loyal, intelligent, thoughtful, tolerant, and a leader. Even in the 90s when everyone was "dark and edgy", he did what was right, not what was easy. He didn't kill, and didn't work with people who did. I always respected that.

Totally counts. His death absolutely crushed me. I had to walk away from the series for three weeks before I was ready to see the rest.

Not the best picture, but it doesn't matter because you've never seen this anime anyway. My father watched it with me, in one of the rare moments when he tried to bond with me and show an interest in my hobbies. I leaped off of the couch and cheered at the kiss, and that was the end of the series for him.

Honorable mention to Captain Mal. Nathon Fillion is amazing. If they ever get around to a live-action Cowboy Bebop movie, he NEEDS a role doing something.

A snarky, arrogant guy, but damned if he wasn't right. Much like the previous entry and the following, there's nothing about these characters I should like. But their actors are so wonderful, they become favorites anyway.

Again, nothing about him is really likable, but the actor does disingenuous jerk so well that he's a favorite character anyway.

He didn't appear as much as I'd like, but he's so pretty I don't care.

The single most badass woman ever. It was so hard when you had to kill her...

She's just so damn adorable. But she is prone to mental breakdowns

As for number 1, look at my avatar. Toast Pony is best female character.

I'm going to try to grab some from as many mediums as possible.

(The Longest Journey) April is an 18 year-old that is kicked head first into a life which is utterly alien, and quite frightening in many ways. She neither cowers nor simply charges into battle. She expresses fear, doubt and general unease, but still manages to be fairly resolute. She is also highly likable. She acts more like a real human being than most video game characters seem to manage.

(Alien(s), duh.) So, the little girl you've been trying to protect has been snatched up by vicious alien monstrosities? You could mourn your loss. Or, you could duct tape a flame thrower to an assault rifle, walk into their hive and kick some heads. Fuck yeah!

(The webcomic Dresden Codak) Has a dishonorary degree in science. Invented a "Quantum Detangler", overwrote her DNA to store data when her thumb drive was full and overclocked a cat. Got cut in half by time travelers; is now a self-made cyborg.

(Invader Zim) A misanthropic, video game addicted goth with a penchant for extreme retribution. A highlight of a far too short-lived series.

(It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia) "Sweet Dee" has taken steroids to win a boxing match, robbed her mother's grave for jewelry, purposefully addicted herself to crack in order to receive welfare, took a baby to a tanning salon and believes Stockholm Syndrome is contagious. She is highly neurotic, despicably manipulative, destructive and utterly hilarious.

(Firefly) Out of the four women on Firefly, I've always appreciated Kaylee the most. Despite seeing some pretty shitty things during her tenure on Serenity, she still manages to have a default cheery disposition. She easily gets the best lines out of the girls in that group and is good with machinery; a trait I wish I had more of.

How can any one not love GLaDOS she is just so incredibly lovable/creepy as hell.

#2 <spoiler=Kreia>http://media.giantbomb.com/uploads/0/2271/293435-kreia_art_large.jpg
I don't know of any words that can describe how amazing Kreia is.

#3 <spoiler=Rin Tezuka>https://encrypted-tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSHbmYsUiU4sI5KCaPQFiA9m1St38EGqGZLtPl5rT7KFMJIuJMagQ
She's really the only character I've ever been able to relate to.
Oh, and she paints without arms. That makes her awesome.

#4 <spoiler=Twilight Sparkle>https://encrypted-tbn1.google.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcS5Dgyb3erAgOE-nflYy4IFm9ldHJuzKbDUyIcUfNzK3l7A-NPyzQ

Cass is THE funniest follower in F:NV. She is also one of the most badass.

Add Garrus in there and this would be a list of all my favorite characters.

Most of my favorites have already been mentioned (The FMA ones in particular), so I'll throw out a couple new ones.

Tomboy in a karate gi. My kind of girl.
Her fighting style is also one of the most relentless in the entire SF series, as she's lightning fast, hits incredibly hard and won't hesitate a second with choking her opponents or punching them in the groin. She's also a high-top-tier character in 3rd Strike, so... yeah. We've got a badass over here.

Queen Catherine Ironfist from Heroes of Might and Magic 3
She commands a huge-ass army of mythological creatures and angels, saves her father's kingdom, rescues her kidnapped husband from demons and beats up devils and minotaurs on daily basis, as well as being a master strategist and tactician.

Well to keep this list under 2 pages I will try to do only 1 from a series.

Fuko Ibuki...This clip might be a bit of a spoiler but I think it explains it a lot better then I could

Bestgirl.

Well while nothing to lose your HEAD over she was my favorite character in the series maybe it was just because of how elegant she looked while she fought it was just really impressive.spoiler alert

Probably for a lot of the reasons I like Fuko I just think this character is hilarious and her childlike behavior always gets me..

And my current favorite from any series I am watching or game I am playing:
Talk about a character that holds a show together without her this show would hardly be what it is.
