When i was a kid.. we didn't have electronics like you.. we had to play with rocks.. and if we were lucky with sticks. We were so bored, that we smashed these rocks and sticks over the heads of other kids... wait...
Ah, can't point to a great game when i was under 10-12 or so. Maybe Super Mario Land, or some of the many Gameboy games... And i remember vaguely when i borrowed a GameGear there was this games with Ninjas which was completely awesome.

Toca Race Driver, Call Of Duty. The first one was the best racer I've ever seen (excluding Toca Race Driver 2), the second one introduced me to FPSs.
For my early youth, most of the Sega Megadrive games. Steets of Rage, Sonic the Hedgehog 1/2, Altered Beast... Mario 3 on the SNES stands out too.
I think when I was about 8-9 my cousin actually gave me Final Fantasy VII for the PS1 because he just didn't like it. It's been one of my favourite games ever since...though I didn't get out of Midgar until I was about 13. I actually thought Rufus would be the end boss.
EDIT: Oh, and TMNT4: Turtles in Time. I actually got this at a second hand store selling American games...I needed an adaptor for it, but damn it was one of my most played.

Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure, Commander Keen Episode 4, Duke Nukem, Monkey Island 2. There were also some games on the PS1.
Goldeneye, Banjo Kazooie, Zelda Orcarina of Time, Duke Nukem 3D, Dark Forces, Die Hard Trilogy, Tony Hawke's Pro Skater.
