You may be a doctor, but I am The Doctor. The definitive article, you might say.

Tom Baker all the way. Oh, and Leela was the best companion, until Donna anyway.

Ten and Eleven are both really awesome. I love how they both seem to jump for joy about all the weird shit that happens. I didn't like the Ninth one as much.

Christopher Eccelston

He felt like he had been around saw bad things, seen great things. Still he kept his charm (unlike Tennant). I enjoyed how he played the role of someone whos probably on the boardline of going crazy.

His run was great for the whole time. While I did like David Tennant from the start (Oh big red button). I didn't like how his character developed. Matt Smith is a good change from sad Tennant.

I haven't seen all the old doctors. It really hard in many ways with the dated ideas and quailty of film. I have seen a bit from each of the first five doctors. Overall it's nice how each doctor adds something to the character. I don't "love" each doctor but I know he will change soon and I might like the new one more.

I'm new to this show-- I really liked Eccleston, and having just seen a couple episodes with Tennant, I still prefer Eccleston at this point. But oh well, better get used to it...

But, damn, what a great show this is. Now I see what all the fuss is about. Between this and Dexter, I have ample quantities of new entertainment crack. Netflix is dangerous to my free time.

My favorite doctor is the one from Voyager. That guy was the man, I mean, the hologram.

I know what you mean. I always thought that David Tennant was the best, in that he looked really alien. He was tall and gangly and his hair was pretty wild. Oh yeah, he was a good actor too. If he looks like an alien-humanoid, more points to him I say.
Yes! My favorite doctor is The Doctor, from Voyager. His biting wit and sarcastic humor always made me enjoy the show that much more.

When I saw Robert Picardo as Richard Woolsey in Stargate: SG-1, I was really excited! Then, disappointed because he was a jag-off, then happy again because he turned out to be a decent man.

since i'm still on episode 1 of season 1 and havent watched any other episodes in the series, i would say, FIRST DOCTOR.
I'm wondering, do you mean the first episode ever aired. "An Unearthly Child", which aired on November 23, 1963.

My money's on David Tennant. He really personified the character in a way that's a cut above the rest.
Totally agree.

This is how I rate them.

1.) 10th David Tennant, He is like all the Doctor's before him, wrapped up into one Doctor, with some of his owns style to add to those styles.
2.) 9th Christopher Eccleston, He's funny, he's serious, he's lovable.
3.) 5th Peter Davison, I don't know he just does it well, I just like his personality.
4.) 4th Tom Baker, I like him, but I only have seen a few episodes, the ones I have on DVD.
5.) 2nd Patrick Throughton, He is quite funny.
6.) 11th Matt Smith, he's good, but he is no (everybody that beat him in this list.) His clothes are a throw back to the 2nd Doctor, and he seems to have some crazy from the sixth, like his regeneration from Tennant's Doctor went wrong, because the 10th "didn't want to go".
7.) 6th Colin Baker, I love crazy.
8.) 1st William Hartnell, Love the grumpy old man Doctor.
9.) 3rd Jon Pertwee, He's okay.
10.) 7th Sylvester McCoy, haven't gotten a hold of his episodes, so I can't judge.
11.) The 8th Paul Mcgann, Was only in the movie 1996 and some radio, I didn't like the movie.

Hello Escapist, I just got done with the taxing Exodus of the Ninth Doctor's run, and now number Ten has made me happy with Doctor Who once more, and I've heard several good things about Eleven. That being said, which Doctors are your favorites? Which ones should be forgotten? Please do let me know.
The 11th is great but he is no 10th. They heavily botched the two finale episodes of the 11th's first season, so I have lost some respect for Steven Moffat as a writer, since he was the head writer and runner of the show for that season.

10th is by far the best.

Oh, before I go, I also have to recommend, watching as much as you can. What I mean is 1st Doctor to the lastest 11th.

You really can't say you are a true viewer of Doctor Who until you have seen at least an episode from each Doctor. Even though it was bad, I still recommend seeing the movie, because it includes the regeneration of the 7th into the 8th.

You also have to keep an open mind, because the old series wasn't big on special effects and highly done sets. I hate it when people rate the old series episodes on Amazon, as bad because of the sets and effects, people have to understand the time period and budget they came from.

If you can in the future, definitely pick up "The Beginning" Box set from BBC Video. It contains the stories 1, 2, and 3. "An Unearthly Child", "The Daleks", "The Edge of Destruction". Doctor Who back then were considered stories, and each story was at least 2 half hour episodes in length, the longest stories made it to 8 or 10 episodes.

Love Robert Picardo, love Star Trek, and Love Stargate SG-1, also Stargate Atlantis.

Stargate Universe is iffy, I watch it, but I really don't like it, it is like Stargate: The Soap Opera. Ooooohh, and they film it in the same style as Battlestar Galactic. Uck! It is that grainy "Dramatic Cam", with the jumping from person to person panning when each person speaks. It makes me sick to my stomach.

But all those shows pale in comparison to Doctor Who's epic longevity as a Sci-fi show. Longest in history, 47 years counting. I count even the years it was off television, because it was still on the radio, same Doctors, same story premise, it just had to go underground. It has the perfect story idea to keep it running so long. Your lead actor doesn't want to play the role anymore, regenerate him into a new lead actor. Grant it that the Doctor really only has like 2 regenerations left, but I think the writers will find away around it. His Arch nemesis The Master did. The Doctor could find a non-evil way to do it.

This would be awesome and a nice changed from all the suited up Docs
Eccleston's 9th Doctor didn't wear a suit.
Neither does Smith's 11, just a tweed jacket and bow tie. I don't think that counts.

OT: Favourite has to be Tennant, but Smith is rapidly catching up. I also liked Tom Baker a lot.
