I'm rather fond of the Hanar's devotion to the Enkindlers, even after it became known that they turned into the Collectors for the most part. I mean, there was a jellyfish who was willing to sacrifice the whole of the Hanar race in order for them to become more like the Collectors.

BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE!

Death to the False Emperor! Loyalist scum, the only true gods in the universe are the gods of CHAOS.
I follow only the call to kill, BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE! All glory be to Khorne!

Of the dark chaos gods, Khorne is the purest of purpose, Tzeench is the god of change, alteration mutation and the chaos that brings, most complicated of purpose.
Then you have Nurgle, who spreads the plagues and blesses his followers with a multitude of diseases to bear and to spread.
Lastly but not least Slaanesh, of all excesses and whimsical pursuits, that and those of a perfectionistically artistic nature, are the belongings of Slaanesh.

But of all of them, Khorne shouts loudest, and strikes most directly, his followers are fans of brutality, violence, and the tools to cause bloodshed, and they are both my bretheren and competitors for his favor.

I still don't get it. What is this Emperor and its cult following? I've never touched a Warhammer 40K game.

They're Space Nazis. However some of these space nazis are also Space Romans, but also nietzschean übermenschen. Fuelled by hate and loyalty to their totalitarian leader figure who is also god.
It's all rather metal.

Edit: More on topic: Anything with loads of orgies and very little human sacrifices

Well done.

Well...I won't be making jokes and just give the community a straight up answer.

I love the mythos of the religions in the Warhammer Universe (Regular Warhammer and 40k...the two are similar but they have differences). So damn interesting really...

I don't understand. Do you take issue with my devotion to the God-Emperor?
There is only one GOD-EMPEROR and thats Muad Dib of DUNE :0
I take it you missed the part where he mentions his dislike for the concept of being a religious figure(much like the the one from DoW universe, also much like in DoW it was someone else who built up the whole thing, in Dunes case Paul's sister Alia)
Though yeah, given the end result, it is probably the best fictional religion, as his son
Leto II, the actual God-Emperor (with a reign of 3 millennia's give/take few centuries) used it to free humanity from the shackles of the predetermined cosmic course.
Yea, the Golden Path where humanity cannot become extinct... I still wonder if the machines will happen to return someday super powerful again..

That has been addressed as well ... all I will say is that the end solution has something to do with Idaho.

Also, I will leave here this quote from the book

The problem of leadership is inevitably: Who will play God?

R'hllor, the Lord of Light from a Song of Ice and fire, i find it interesting as it's a mysterious religion which allows the priests/priestess to possess strange dark magic, remember, "the night is dark and full of terrors"

Peace is a lie, there is only passion.
Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.
The Force shall free me.

I am a child of the Sith.

Either that or the Church of Optimus Prime.

Yea, I like so many people kind of stopped reading them after the 3rd book. Duncan Idaho being cloned more then once, worm god... The old Frank Herbert books are amazing but got kinda stale. I started reading the books written by his son because of the awesome back story. I'll pick up the series again maybe after I finish my H.P. Lovecraft collection.
