Just as the title says, what freeware games do you really enjoy, or would recommend?

I haven't really gotten excited for any new titles for awhile, aside from Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3, and I've found myself playing more and more freeware titles. Personally I liked the original PC version of cave story, and I've recently played Kerbal Space Program, it's good for killing an hour here or there. Oh and the Elona rogue-like is also pretty good, if you like some complexity, and gene splicing little girls with Bears.

Damnit, you already said Cave Story.

Since you can only buy disks at the reitaisai, at this point Touhou is basically freeware to non-japan users. If you have the time to waste, and a VERY high frustration threshold, you could play Dwarf Fortress. And of course there's the new F2P range on steam, including Team Fortress 2.

Super Crate Box

Youre the guy with the gun, fighting off waves of the green guys. The way you get points is getting boxes, which spawn randomly, and each box contains a different weapon. So it effectively makes you keep switching weapons to get points.

Also, its runs extremely smoothly, which is a big help with the combat.

Spirit Engine 2 is my all-time freeware favorite. It's a brilliant little RPG and I'd put it up against most AAA titles easily. After that, probably TF2.

kerbal space program, atm. Its actually an free to play alpha and the full game will cost something, but I'm having a blast with it and doesn't cost anything yet!
