Either MW2, Mass Effect or the original Prince of Persia, the ending to that game was fantastic.

The ending to Mass Effect was epic in ever sense of the word. I'd never seen everything like it.

God, I've got to buy that game again before I buy Mass Effect 2.

Umm, hello? Elder Scrolls: Oblivion? Martin turns into Akitosh and has a giant fight with Mehrunes Daegon(sp?)? THAT was the best ending ever.

I forget what game it was but in the ending your actions have literally achieved nothing and your back where you started.
Sounds like Prince of Persia for the PS3

Final Fantasy VII or X.

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

Probably others but those 3 come to mind.

Mass Effect's ending sequence scores it for me, but I'm an addict for that game.
Seconded!

Both the good and evil endings of Jade Empire are awesome too.

Mother 3. The Music, the final battle and the ? scene (If you've played it you probably know what I'm talking about) were all really awesome.

I would have to go with mass effect or Halo, and don't lie and say you didn't love driving on disstaplizing platforms while everthing around you explodes.

The ending of Okami anyone? Or am I the only one on the Escapist who's had the good pleasure of playing that game?

I'm actually going to tell the truth and say that I found that bit to be extremely bland. I got unlucky a few times (read: failed a lot) and after dying 2-3 times, the epic-ness of the scenario vanished completely. Also, the leading up to it was not that great, I didn't care about any characters or the things that happened. Maybe because I was playing co-op... It can limit the interest in the story quite a bit.

The U.S. campaign on MW2 (taking back the White House was great, and the music definitely helped the experience), Battlefield Bad Company, and...nothing else. Everything else is just going towards screaming buy the next game. I don't have a problem with this (unlike some idiots who don't thing the people who make games should get money and forget that the Earth revolves around the sun and not them), but it just leads to mediocre (or worse [no game that shouts sequel at the end has ever had a good ending-as good as the rest of the game might be-in my experience]).

Me too. I've watched that final battle so many times... so exhilarating. How the hell are they gonna top it?

Metal Gear Solid 3, Metal Gear Solid 4, CoD4: Modern Warfare, God of War, Mass Effect, Crysis (even though it continues it was epic)

Big Rigs... I'm not sure.

I'll tell you a bad ending though: The ending of Death Note (anime)!
I wonder why that exact thing about Death Note crossed my mind after reading the topic.

OT: I hardly play games that have "finales", or then I just don't play it that much to get that far. Just Diablo II and Titan Quest come to mind. Liked those endings.
