Posted in error - ignore. What a fail.

Also didn't notice I'd already posted on this one.

One of those days.

Dragon Quest VIII, Sly Trilogy and Okami.

In no particular order. All 5 of those games are utterly brilliant.

The Prince of Persia trilogy. Sands of Time was THE game that got me into videogaming as a serious hobby and not just something you dicked around in goldeneye or perfect dark multiplayer when you had a bunch of friends over (not that there's anything wrong with that). The atmosphere of that game was just aweinspiring, and the story, while rather cliché, is told wonderfully with awesome characters, and the soundtrack is still one of the best I've heard.

My personal favourite in the series is Warrior within though. While the "darker and edgier" might have turned a lot of people off, I really didn't mind it, and all the refinements it did with every aspect of gameplay made the game just flow much smoother to me. I still hold it as one of the best examples of how to do melee combat in a videogame. The story also seemed less filled with clichés, but it's been a while since I played it so I might be wrong.

Unfortunately, The Two Thrones is the weakest in the series in my opinion. They gutted the combat, censored the violence in the european version, and the story didn't seem as captivating as the previous titles. The addition of the stealth segments was fun, even if it boiled down to a simple quicktime event, and the Dark Prince was fun to play as even if I despise the new design they went with.

All in all, the series is really good, with The Sands of Time and Warrior Within as the standouts in terms of atmosphere and gameplay respectively, while The Two Thrones was a somewhat failed marriage of the first games atmosphere with the second games gameplay, though still a really solid and entertaining title.

I really like Kingdom Hearts as well, but that's been described over and over, so I don't really have anything to add on that subject :p

I love all of my PS2 games, but my absolute favorites are (in no particular order):

Final Fantasy X
Disgaea 2
Odin Sphere
Jak and Daxter series
Ratchet and Clank series
First time I see Odin Sphere mentioned here! Fun game, cool story, gorgeous graphics ;)

OP - I think all of my picks got ninja'd already but for the record, Okami, Shadow of the Colossus, Silent Hill 2, Resident Evil 4, God Hand and Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King. Oh oh and Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction, one of the best sandboxes on the PS2, though sadly it never got a lot of attention.
I've mentioned Odin Sphere quite a bit, and you were the first to comment about it, actually.

Glad to see that there are others who also enjoyed the game.
