Your Favorite Game opening/intro

Fallout New Vegas - I loved the cinematic zoom out from the ruins of the past, to the glamour of New Vegas, to the brutality of life outside the gates all the way to the moment which kicks off the game.

I liked MW2's as well, the concise sumary of the last game perfectly set the tone for the new game's story line.

The normandy beach landing was amazing

Hell yeah, rocked my socks off. That was the first war game I ever played, and it made sure it wasn't the last.

Bioshock, Mass Effect 2.

I don't know if they're the best intros evar, but whenever someone says, "Awesome game intro sequences..." those are the two titles that instantly pop into my head.

Mass Effect 2 was my first thought when I saw the thread title, Bioshock is awesome as well.

These three are the best intros I've ever seen in a game, and I've seen more than is healthy.

Is it okay to say God of War I?

It transitioned from the title screen which I thought was brilliant, and in about fifteen seconds you were thrust into combat with no tutorial at all.

I can't recall a game ever getting you into the action so quickly.

EDIT: As far as actual cinematics go, I have to go with the intro for Wrath of the Lich King. From a lore perspective it was dripping with irony, as King Terenas' wishes for Arthas as a boy were contrasted with what Arthas as a man was doing throughout the cinematic. It was more powerful than just a flashy "Wow, this is cool!" cinematic and I always enjoyed the game more because of it.

Final Fantasy VIII and nothing else comes close. I had to rewatch it several times to show it off to people, and still sometimes I pull it up to see it again. It stands the test of time in my opinion, and tells a great backstory that draws you into the game immediately.
