I don't know that there was really a "eureka" moment for Rome: Total War, only when I'd realized I'd played through it about seven or eight times already and kept coming back for more.

No one part of that game is jaw-droppingly spectacular, but the game taken as a whole is such a masterpiece it's why it's my all-time #1.

After playing Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX for awhile and just being absolutely absorbed into that quirky Zelda world vibe, all the cheeky cameos, humour and odd characters mixed with the beautiful gameplay and epic boss fights just made me adore that game like no other.

I may have enjoyed games more that this one since then (I do still run through it occasionally) but those have been due to hilarious multi-player scenarios that occur when me and my friends cause crazy shit to go down, as a stand alone game it will always stay in my heart as the best, and my favourite. It can't even be matched by the other amazing Zelda games, to me it was the perfect one.

God of War

I'll never forget the first time I made a minotaur experience what I like to call "The Sword-Blowjob" made me realise it would get better on from there...It did not disappoint.

Oblivion- Stepping out of the sewers.
I first played the game in 2009, and coming out of those sewers still impressed.

The Moon Cave in Okami. Such a bizarre dungeon (you assemble the boss' dinner) for what would appear to be the final boss. Then you do indeed fight the final boss and it is glorious and awesome, and the best part is that the game keeps going. For at least twice as long as the first act. And it only gets better. The ending, however, was when I realised that it was my favourite game. Such a good ending.

Fallout 3, when I played the demo on my mums PS3 :)

I then immediately got it for the Xbox 360 and it was the best game I have ever played.

When I was playing Bioshock my first time through... I knew it was a great game, but I was really hooked when I dealt with Andrew Ryan...

That whole "Atlas Plot-Twist" was amazing...

The Revelation
Yeah, same here. That part really got me hooked to the game.
I loved that part, it's probably my favorite moment in game history. I think I really got hooked on KotOR when you got trained as a Jedi and at long last got to kill Sith with lightsabers :)

I'd have to say Descent: Freespace.

The mission where you have to pilot a shivan fighter and do reconnaisance on their forces and Lucifer jumps in. First they ask me to scan the whole damn thing from up close and I'm like "oookay... sounds risky but can do.." and the next order is "try to fly in through their fighter bay 2"... "say WHAT?!?".

And then there's Freespace 2 of course. On the first game the anti-fighter/bomber weapons on their big ships were pretty useless so doing the deathstar thing wasn't hard. But when you take on the shivan cruisers for first time on the second game and command gives you instructions "watch out for their flak and anti-fighter beam batteries" all I had time to think was "what flak patte..." boom boom boom BOOM!

Final Fantasy X, I fell in love with it the first moment I started playing it. The music was beautiful, the graphics were fantastic and I liked the characters.

Ninja'd to an epic degree. The soundtracks (Okami and Okamiden) are amazing and well worth it.

OT: Ninja'd, but oh well. When I first played Okami it was impressive, fun, I loved it. The first time I used the celestial brush to rejuvenate the bridge...I knew I had a winner. But when I first fought the "end boss" (or was supposedly, to me anyhow) and beat it, finding out THE STORY KEPT GOING, I just couldn't believe it. I don't think anything surprised me or made me as happy as it did. Okami is my game of the decade for a reason. Nothing will ever match that for me, Shadow of the Colossus and ICO come close...but Okami takes it.

Plus, Issun being such a massive pervert is a huge help to the game, I love that little critter. "Hey busty babe." Man...I miss Clover Studio. I hope Okamiden is half as good, otherwise I'll be very disappointed.

I don't know if my favorite game is Twilight Princess or Mass Effect 2...
I'm sure ME2 is going to be done to death, though.

Twilight Princess: When the Bulbin comes to Kakariko Village and takes the little boy. I was pretty deeply immersed and the Wii controls were actually helping that out a lot. I probably looked ridiculous fighting my way to the King Bulbin, doing these ridiculous flourishes and a few dramatic poses. But when it came down to the fight on the bridge, I was giggling in glee when I knocked that bastard off his beast. I felt like a badass.
