Jade Empire, when they did a harmonic combo, people either exploded or if they used a sword/axes the targets head went flying and they contiunously bleed in a bloody lake of blood

Legacy of Kain: Defiance... It wasn't really gory but it had it's fair share of blood and gore. That game made me play Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen 2 and that was great also. What I liked about the two is the story and voice acting.
I never really played that many gory or bloody games until this generation.

(Just started playing LoK: Blood Omen yesterday and it's good.)

Wow, the only 'gory' game that comes to mind right now for me is God of War (okay 2 games). They are totally sweet. Some of the finishing moves are a little too repetetive, but Kratos can sure carve **** up!

Does THPS count? Those skaters seem to have an endless supply of blood...

God of War games. No game can give me a really lovely death sequence w/ blood & gore nonetheless than God of War. Its about the only appropriate game which actually need quick-time events.

The Soldier of Fortunes' easily with the Postals' right behind it. Though the Punisher gets an honorable mention for torturing people except THQ caved in and made it cost you points if you killed them that way....not like it stopped me. I love Frank Castle!

God of War that game was full of intense gore ( press circle to iniate the grab following the most gory executions)

or recently Dead Space ..... no reason needed

For cartoony gore, I say Samurai Western. There is so much blood and screaming when you go into berserk mode I was laughing my ass off. Plus it was a great game.

Will someone please explain to me why the hell violence and gore are fun (or even funny)?
No joke, no sarcasm, just a dire need to know.

The spectacle I guess. Don't get me wrong, I find real life gore as disturbing as the next person, but there's something about watching a super mutant explode in 5 different directions that makes me go "wow, that's freaking awesome!".

Probably just a matter of taste. Sometimes I can be pretty tasteless...
