The Edge would have to be my favourite guitarist. He came out in a time when every guitarist was trying to play a million notes a minute. With his simplistic style, he can invoke more feeling with one note then most guitarists can with entire song

Carrie Brownstein, I wouldn't deem her as the best guitarist (Actually, out of most Riot Girl bands I would consider her the best, but only in THAT category), but she was seriously fun to watch on stage.

Santana too, since he was technically one of the first guitarists that made me want to attempt playing guitar.

Kaki King is another fave.
