Well, December is finally upon us... though the holiday decorations went up months ago... and we're already being inundated with music of said holidays... but despite all the sappiness, there are some good holiday tunes out there, so let's share! (And yes, I am using the term "Holiday" since saying "Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa/Ramadan ect" would take too long. Okay? Okay.)

An obvious choice, even if it's a bit cheesy. Personally, I prefer this version, not just because it sounds nice, but also because Rudolph finally calls out "all of the other reindeer" on their BS.

Because the song kicks, that's why. Also, this video is just awesome.

Despite being nigh-inseparable as the Peanuts theme, this song gets played a lot during the holidays, so it counts. Plus, I love me some good jazz.

NONE OF IT. Christmas music would be something I'd do away with if I had access to time travel. I'd have to do the research. Find out who is responsible, take out all the major players. Christmas music, just after Hitler on the time travel to do list.

I work at a radio station. Actually the company I work for owns 5 local stations. 3 run Christmas music all December. It gets to actual "make it stop, please" levels of torture.

Number one to come to mind:

I like the variants others produced starring The Lobe from Freakazoid and King DeDeDe almost as much. And speaking of remixes by Brawl in the Family (sniff)...

I experienced just about everything spoken of in this song IRL yesterday. Except possibly the death-defying jumps. To round out my trilogy of 'Awesome Christmas songs that are negative for a season that's supposed to be positive'...

Okay so maybe this song isn't so negative, just the movie. Enjoy!

I rather dislike the holidays, but Auld Lang Syne is something I never tire to sing on New Year's Eve, I'll play it even if I'm spending New Year's alone.

EDIT: God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen is also enjoyable, but that's closer to Classical than pure Christmas music.

Pretty much Michael Buble's entire Christmas album.

Also, this album that I've listened to every year for as long as I can remember:
Love the peaceful instrumentals combined with the nature effects.

Also, OP, I love that version of Carol of the Bells. One of my favourites as well.

Epic without being terribly preachy.
90s pop sensibilities, Peter Gabriel, Strange Days. Such a great film and this was played during their new year's.

Most Christmas music really puts me off, either because I'm tired of hearing it, it sounds far too kiddy, or it's being adapted by a band that I feel would sound so much better if they weren't trying to sing Christmas music.
Anyway, I once went to a Celtic Christmas concert and heard plenty of songs that were both new to me and more sombre than the cheese fest of today's Christmas music. Some songs that stood out for me were "The Darkest Midnight in December" and "Stars of Glory"

I like the religious stuff, actually. I really admire the poetry and the passion some of these people clearly feel.

I can't stand Christmas songs. It's not even a hating of Christmas as whole, like I don't mind Christmas, I just don't like the songs.
