I'm sure I'm not the only one who wanders out into the loungeroom while the kids have a movie on...only to then get distracted and sit down with them, glued to the screen.

My favorite kids movie has to be 2009's "Coraline".

Megamind.
Took my younger brothers and sister to see that. Absolutely loved it.

I dont really liek the term "kids movies"

sure they are made with kids in mind but I also think many of them are made with adults in mind as well, "kids movie" implys that you shouldn't be enjoying it if you are an adult

especially coraline which gets downright creepy in parts, definetly not suited for young kids

My favorite animated movies are:

Monsters inc
Hunchback of notredame
Tarzan
Wall-e

Pixar's "Up." While kids may like Kevin and Russel's antics, I was deeply moved by Carl Fredricksen's relationship with Ellie.

C'mon admit it, you cried too at the end of the montage.

Finding Nemo. I love the somewhat serious subject (Dad trying to save his kid) but all the jokes and the adventure feel of the film really make me enjoy it.

Yeah thats true....but you know what I mean right? For the sake of practicality (read: laziness) I'm just grouping them together.

Disregarding any somewhat "childish" anime I may like, I love Disney films.

My favourites being The Hunchback of Notre Dam, Robin Hood, Hercules, Alice in Wonderland and Beauty and the Beast

Haven't seen too many other children's movies though and I avoid any sort of live action kids film like the plague >.>

I would argue that Coraline is a damn sight scarier for adults then it is for kids. The only thing kids will see are scary monsters, but will forget about them with the happy ending where she beats the Other Mother and they all live happily ever after. For adults, it digs into issue of child neglect, parental abandonment, kidnapping/runaways etc which will linger far longer after watching it.

My general view on films is if I've been told its entertaining, I'll give it a go. Thinking back over the past few years, I'm struggling to think of any live-action kids films other then Harry Potter and Narnia.

Back on topic, I like pretty much anything from Disney and Pixar. Also, An American Tail. The Mouse of Minsq scared the crap out of me!

Pretty much all the '90s Disney movies I grew up with as a kid:

Aladdin
The Nightmare Before Christmas
The Lion King
Hercules
Mulan
Toy Story
A Bug's Life

I also greatly enjoyed Mary Poppins, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, All Dogs Go To Heaven, the first two American Tail movies, The Sword in the Stone and Robin Hood as a kid. At least one of them was on TV practically every weekend the NFL wasn't on when I was younger, and you could not pull me away from any of them if your life depended on it.

I also have a soft spot in my heart for The Land Before Time, which was apparently the first movie I ever saw.

Oh, you can add Beetlejuice to the list if you count it as a "kids movie".

DON'T MAKE ME CHOOSE!

Oh, if you put a gun to my head, I suppose I'd pick The Emperor's New Groove, with The Road to El Dorado coming in a close second.
