The unprepared masses not knowing what to do, slowly dying out due to lack of food, medicine and knowledge.
40 years on, the population of the world has been cut down to just one third, bandits still run rabid, governments have been abandon for years and towns became independent.
In this environment it's survival of the fittest.

Is that picture just a random one or is it from something? It looks cool.

It's still my all time favorite comics story. I love alternate reality stories in general, and that one was really interesting.

A disease that would manipulate the x chromosome (would be hereditary) causing all humans to become asexual and unable to reproduce and the only way for the human species to survive was to individuals that haven't become diseased.

Bang. Just bang, the world explodes. No zombies, UFO or raining meterorites. If I'm going to die I'd prefer the most painless, least annoying way to go.
