Now I've already said I'm not very good at describing people or characters but most of you should know about River Tam.
If you don't, shame on you!
Watch the tv show Firefly and the movie serenity If you have not already.

In short:
Pure genius, Psychic, Insane.
She's arguably the smartest person alive.
Was sent to a special school for highly intelligent people, though the school was secretly owned by the evil government who brain-raped her to turn her into a psychic.
This struck her with a bad case of insanity. The government did a lot of experiments on her, some of which turned her into a martial arts master and a pretty effective killing machine.
Her insanity ranges from almost-vaguely-sane to fetal-in-the-corner-blabbering-gibberish. Has also been known to go Ax-crazy on occasion.
Intelligent, graceful, lethal and absolutely beautiful.

I second River as the best female character. My favorite male character would have to be the Chief. I know, I'm a halo fanboy, I can't help it. He's just so awesome...

Female: Faith from Mirror's Edge. She looked just really appropriate for her 'job'. Another thing i liked about her was her realistic personality.

Male: Zaraki Kenpachi (Captain of the 11th Division) from Bleach.

A demon in a body of a 2 meter berserker (of course, not literally) that will get stabbed just to get the chance to defeat the enemy. He will also cripple himself if the enemy is not strong enough. He also saves his secret moves (especially the use of kendo and his eyepatch) just so he won't spoil his fun. Although considered sociopathic, reckless and cruel, he won't finish off an enemy that can no longer fight, hoping he will become stronger and fight with him again.

He appears to care about his lieutanants, even if he doesn't show it. Also, while he wants to die in a fight, he won't just give up - quite contrary, he will fight till his last breath, just to defeat his enemy.

Also, he is the only captain that not only doesn't have a Bankai, he also can't get his sword to tell him its name. Even then, he's more than capable of fighting with a Captain-level enemy and winning with him.

Female: Maestro Delphine Eraclea (Δελβινε Ελακλαρ in Greek) from Last Exile.

Leader of one of the biggest powers in the world (The Guild) and the main antagonist of the series. Blindly worshipped by her underlings, she is more dangerous than any of the characters in the series. This reliance on other people, however, made her weak and vulnerable and Alex Rowe, one of the main characters in the anime, managed to strangle her moments before dying. After she died, so have the hopes of the Guild to regain power. Still, she's pretty badass.

Female: Jade from Beyond Good and Evil

Ignoring for a second the fact that green is my favourite colour, Jade is a strong female character that needs no rescuing. She's also quite hot without having boobs the size of basketballs or wearing a skin-tight suit or bikini.

Yep, definatly Jade. She is one of the most interesting main characters I have ever seen. She's not a clicheed super-action heroine with huge breasts and a card board background, shes a likeable and realistic character. a photo journalist living with her uncle and some orphans she cares for, working to pay the bills. Great dialogues, great look. A character you really care for.

The look is also distinct. practical,useful clothes you wouldn't notice on the streets(apart from the colour), an attractive yet not too unrealistic body and a great face(a bit exotic).

No, no, no. Jehuty is the Orbital Frame, Wing Zero is the Gundam. I had merely implied from the beginning that Jehuty was the coolest mech created since the introduction Wing Zero, who was also a cool mech, much like such-n'-such is the best thing since sliced bread.
