Ok, so I'm at my Tae Kwon Do school looking at our "wall-o-weapons" with the staffs, practice swords, nunchucks, you name it we got it. Anyway I was wondering, no, pondering what is everyone elses favorite weapon? (Given you know anything about martial art weapons) And no there is no martial art of the hand and gun...that only exist in the movie "Equilibrium"

So to start things off Mine is a tie between the Bo (staff) and escrima sticks (the most basic and easiest things to whack your opponent with)

Edit: For the sake of the argument, anything besides your hands, foots up people's A#$, and guns (although I do like this one guys post of "Bomb-fu") Because guns are cheating...even though thats one of the rules of martial arts "If your out numbered, CHEAT" The reason I say this is because the original title of this thread was "old school" weapons, technologiclly meaning "Before guns"

Edit:Edit: And yes I know the definition of "martial arts" I'm not a moron.(I just like giving goofy nicknames to stupid stuff)

The bamboo swords I guess is another good whacking device. (Yes I like calling things "Whacking devices")

Anyway.

The three-section staff is where it's AT, son! That weapon doesn't get nearly enough coverage, dammit.

I like the ninjitus kantana is shorter and has a straight blade with a square hilt, looks cool and compact for close quarters

I'm sure there is somewhere, at the very least there would be a correct learn-able technique for pistol whipping.

I'm going to stick with the humble sword on this one.

Karate-do is the martial art of using your hands.

The problem by saying "Martial Art" weapon is that the wording is... well, its crap. Martial Arts simply means the art of fighting, so any melee weapon applies. So the weapons for this thread could be any European weapon as well. That said, I'll break it down because I like many weapons.

West: Zweihander
East: Katana
Two-Handed: Naginata
Stealth: Shinobigatana

Boxing is a western martial art.
I'm not an idiot. I know that. Started in France, and all that jazz, right?

But if you actually read the post, he specifically stated

He effectively stated that, in this case, the fist does not count as a martial art weapon. It must be an extension of the body, not a part of it.

I love most weapons, so quite hard.

If I were to get trained to use something extremely well, it would have to be a spear. If that wasn't an option, a staff. If neither of those were an option, a katana. If none of those were an option for some stupid reason, I'd probably just stick to Daggers or some sort of short bladed weapon.

as a martial weapon? Elbow & Knee. If I NEED a weapon that is not part of my body, then short knife used as a distraction for my ELBOW AND KNEE. Any questions?
