If you had to design a video game adaptation of your favorite movie, what would the gameplay be like?

Yojimbo - an open-world game where you walk the earth as a masterless samurai. Emphasis is on dialogue and planning. Fights are quick, brutal, and unforgiving. I'd play it.

I have a few favourite movies, and the gameplay would be horrific in all of them. Some examples are:

Der Untergang (Downfall): I imagine it would be speech based (like an L.A. Noire kind of thing) with some fetch quests and gun fights thrown in. It wouldn't be able to convey the same story and emotions as the film.

A Clockwork Orange: Open world third person action with melee combat. Perhaps some physics puzzles later on, and lots of cutscenes, Metal Gear Solid style? It would be a jumbled mess.

Threads: Open world exploration and fetch quests. It would probably have to do with escaping the ruins of Sheffield.

Well Personally I am really enjoying the Scott Pilgrim XBLA game. because it was well done and ties into the comics well.
Red Dead Redemption = Playing Clint Eastwood Western movies
Duty Calls Parody in Bulletstorm = Tropic Thunder
LA Noire detective game = The Hangover

Citizen Kane. Hmmm... I guess it's a point and click adventure story and... wow that would suck as a game.

Moon. It would have "The Sims" gameplay mixed with mini work-related quests and detective work to find out your true purpose on the moon.

Favorite? Or good? If we're going favorite I don't think you can make any of the movies I would call favorite into a game pretty much screwed. Thank you for smoking the game would be beyond attrocious. So would Ravenous.

Sucker Punch: Call Sega they already made the game and it was fun. It's called Bayonetta. And hey you might follow the story this time through.

The Mummy Series could be fun. LEt the guys from Silicon Knights do it just actionize their Eternal Darkness engine.

Fear and loathing in las vegas,

probably make it a puzzle game similar to the layton games but make some puzzles require you to dip into your *ahem* "stash". you could learn what the different effects would have on the puzzle and you could have some pretty crazy combinations.

that or The Big Lebowski.

it would probably be similar to the original max payne game. really stylized narration with some pretty creative locations to explore. I might call on Bioware to make it just because I think that the characters really sell the story and Bioware usually do characters justice.

Oldboy...

I guess it'd be like L.A. Noire only with a more personal stake for the player and... fun.
Oh and an insanely difficult and non-black-and-white moral choice system =D

8 1/2. A game almost all about dialog with no action and an indecisive director. I believe that any game that would be made from this would be terrible.

Secret world leader (shhh) said:
Inception. It would be an online only 3rd person co-op shooter with an LBP style level editing and publishing system.
I agree, it would be interesting to hear the "Game wihtin a game" aspect.

Goldeneye the game has already been made, and it is a great game, so another game would be pointless.

Some other awesome Movie->Game ideas would be: Escape from LA (stealth/action adventure), Braveheart (action rts) and Today you Die (beat 'em up).

There have been plenty of games based on the original Star Wars trilogy, most of which were awesome. If only the Lucasarts of today were the same Lucasarts that existed 15 years ago...
