Eh...I dunno...I'm kinda partial to the various movies used for MST3K, but probably because they were used for that show. Outside of that...probably the original Star Wars movies.

I'm not sure,, I'm not much of a movie person, but I think some of my top picks would be

Primer - I didn't finish reading the description before deciding to definitely watch the movie. I first encountered it when I red somewhere that "anybody who claims he fully understands what's going on in Primer after seeing it just once is either a savant or a liar." which intrigued me, then I'll try to read something along the lines of - "The director was a Maths student who took a course in physics in order to create a film about time travel." I stopped reading at that point. It was enough -I love time-travel and plots that puzzle you, so I watched Primer. After I did it I came back to that description and the very next sentence was that the movie was made with about $7000 budget. I can honestly tell you that if the first sentence hadn't convinced me, the second one would have. It shows dedication to do a low budget movie and I am a fan of that.

Basic - two investigators try to solve a case in the military and hit intrigue and conspiracy. Things seem stranger with each new "fact" they turn up.

The Mask - for some reason, I find this movie really amusing. I love it and I've watched it more times than any other (including the mandatory Christmas movies who are sometimes shown again once or twice during the year). Heck, one time I watched the movie several times in a row for a few hours and it was still good. It will have a special place in my heart forever.

The Cube trilogy - I like each one of the movies, including the second and third one. I just wander why haven't they picked up the franchise and continued it, then again I really don't want them to turn it into a enormous string of sequels that lose their meaning pretty soon (you know, like Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, Saw).

Fight Club - just classic.

The Shawshank Redemption

It solidified my belief that people can change and that people shouldn't have to suffer for their entire lives because of one incredibly stupid decision.

The end of that film, with that music, always makes me so happy.

Brilliant film.

err... humm.. only two... ahhh!

Ok I'll go with:

this film makes me laugh, it makes me cry, and it makes me think that the world, for all it's faults, can be a good place.

this film makes me howl with laughter and thankful that someone out there is as potty as I am!

Beautifully shot and directed with of lot of influences from more conventional Noir and German Expressionism, it also boasts one of the scariest and iconic villains of cinema. I love Night of the Hunter and am truly sad that Charles Laughton only made this one film.

My favorite Coen Brothers film, again very beautifully shot, but also quite funny. Yes I prefer it over the Godfather, or Godfather 2.

Ahh the classic. So very well written, so very funny. Captain Renault for the win.

To be fair I have also watched the trilogy of John Carpenter/Kurt Russell films an incredible amount.

My favorite movie of last year had to be Warrior, and the best Christmas movie will always be Die Hard. Midnight Run is still one of the best comedies I've seen, even if Zombieland is a close second. I'll throw in a really good obscure one too, if anyone even remembers Streets of Fire.

Army of Darkness Mainly because Bruce Campbell is hilarious in that movie and I just love the Evil Dead series.

Spinal Tap Well, just look at it!

And this other trailer just makes me laugh just from the absurdity of it:

Warhorse.

The absolute closest I've ever come to crying during a movie. If I was sitting on the edge of my seat in amazement when the horse was fucking plowing a field, it was doing something right. Really overlooked movie, it was unfortunate enough to be released during the late Christmas season, when everyone wasn't really paying attention to the movies.
