(and I'm kind of disappointed I'm the first to bring it up). Holy Motors
An "Art Film" in the purest sense of the term. A true love letter to sadly dwindling use of standard film in the guise of a surreal adventure. Sure, the narrative might be hard to follow at times, but so fucking what? Holy Motors is an absolutely brilliant movie in every single way. This one might lack the scope of Cloud Atlas, but it's still a motherfucking spectacle.

I've never heard of this but I'll look into it now, thanks.

Dude. Good f**king list. Still have to see Zero Dark Thirty, Holy Motors, and Rust and Bone, but I hear they're all amazing. Have you seen Amour? It's incredible and probably my favorite of the year.
