It's not brand spanking new but I've been listening to Five Finger Death Punch's War is the Answer and I'm digging it. The package art alone is beaten only by Children of Bodom's Blooddrunk.

If it must be a 2009 album, I'll go with Týr's By The Light of The Northern Star. Progressive folk? Count me in.

Wow, this thread has made me realize that I have literally no music from 2009 on my computer. Going back to 2008 though, I would say Dear Science by TV On The Radio, Stay Positive by The Hold Steady, and Vampire Weekend by Vampire Weekend.

I am really enjoying "The Satanic Satanist" by Portugal. The Man recently. I'm also really looking forward to when I manage to get my hand on The Most Serene Republic's new album.

You definition of "old" is stupid.
Ten years is not a long time.
However, I'm going to have to submit Dream Theater's Black Clouds and Silver Linings for 2009.

There's a great new band called The XX. They'll probably become huge in '10 and become crappy, but their debut album is sublime. They're touring with Florence and the Machine, I think.

Sign of the southern cross`s (yes it`s a blatant sabbath referance) of mountains and moonshine is pretty fooking awesome could best be described as being the new down ,also likeing the new shadow`s fall and black dhalia murder stuff enjoying Megadeths endgame album
also very exited for the new slayer album i could try and describe it in a rational way ,but it`s best described by screaming SLAYERRRRRRRR WOOOOOOOOOO!!!! for about 5 hours really

It probably doesn't count, but I picked up about £130 (about $212) of CDs the other day in HMV, including Frampton Comes Alive, 2 Muse albums and The Who: The Ultimate Collection, which I've been playing a lot recently.

Well it's not too new, came out about a year ago, but I listen to it almost every day because it's so damn good.

I got the album from the documentary, man the stuff they do live is insane.

As of late, my favorite new albums are Dream Theater's relatively new Black Clouds and Silver Linings, Paramore's brand new eyes, and the Halo 3: ODST Soundtrack.
