Everyone talks about Mario 64, The Legend of Zelda games, Super Smash Bros. and anything made my Nintendo (and I'm also going to count Rare), but I'm curious as to what peoples favorite non first-party title is on the now classic system. Mine would have to be Turok 2: Seeds of Evil. That had to be one of my favorite first person shooters for a long time. Hybrid-dinosaurs, aliens creatures, and some very explorable enviroments, I loved that game as much as it scared me as a child. I still bring out my N64 just to play it again (the thing still works. It may look like a brick, but it holds like one too)

Skies of Arcadia, maybe? I played it a bit on the Dreamcast, but never finished it until I had the Gamecube version. I loved the atmosphere in the game, the world was really awesome. I also played it in my teens, so there's always that sheen of getting really involved with something at that age.

Awww... no Rare? But... Goldeneye! Perfect Dark! Ugh, fine...

In that case, I'm gonna go with Body Harvest 64 by DMA Design (later renamed Rockstar North).

It's not a pretty game even by the standards of the day it came out, but it was the first game I'd ever played that was a shooter with heavy emphasis on vehicular combat with a huge variety of vehicles, including aircraft, that you could hop in and out of at any time. I don't think I'd call it a classic, but somehow it came along at the right time for me to end up as an incredibly memorable game.

My second choice probably would be something within the Turok series, though. Either the same as you, Turok 2, or maybe Turok Rage Wars. I know Rage Wars generally isn't held in high regard, but I had a hell of a lot of fun with it, especially when friends were around to play multiplayer.

Definitely Rogue Squadron. That game was so damn fun.

I'd prolly put Harvest Moon 64 up there if not for the clearly superior BTN on PS1.

Never played the N64 much, due to not owning one growing up, but I do have fond memories of playing Silicon Valley with my nephew.

Rogue Squadron.

I mean it's not like anyone but Rare and Nintendo even made decent N64 games, given how crippled the hardware was (Texture memory? What texture memory?).

Either Tony Hawk's pro skater 1 or Rush 2: Extreme Racing USA. I played both of them a ton.

Yeah Turok 2 is one of the best, but I would include Star Wars:Shadows of the Empire. Maybe also beetle adventure racing? Man this is hard, Rare and Nintendo basically owned that console.

I had a barrel of fun with Vigilante 8. It's hard to remember anything else, because Rare made that system what it was.

Well, the N64 was pretty crap for third party support. Gamecube suffered from the same issue. And the Wii was a controller gimmick that none of the third party companies really figured out either...

As an RPG fan, coming out of the SNES era was pretty rough. SNES had some of the VERY BEST rpgs ever. Then you get to the N64 and you get... Quest 64. Sure, I OWNED a N64, but really only played a bit of zelda, goldeneye and mario games. Playstation just offered a cheaper system on cds. Can't blame them for winning that generation because they got the third party support.

hmmm, maybe Destruction Derby 64. I'm not really a fan of race/car games, but it was actually quite well done IMO.

Harvest Moon 64 for me, one of my favorite games from my childhood and is still one of my favorite HM games.

Jet Force Gemini was THE BOMB, yo.
Can't remember much else about the console in terms of non-first party games tbh.

I have absolutely no idea if it's first party or not but I'm just going to say Jet Force Gemini.

And if that is first party then I don't have one because all the other N64 games I liked had Star Fox in them.

No Rare? Fuck that shit.

Um... At the time where all I played was N64 I'd say my favorite was Space Station Silicon Valley.

God I played that again a few years ago. The ending is so stupid.

Rogue Squadron, with WWF No Mercy in a very close second. People still talk about how good No Mercy was.
