Morrie from Dragon Quest VIII

He has passion, he has zeal, he has... an outrageously stereotyped Italian accent... Ragazzo!

He makes me smile from the very first moment you see him stoically posed atop his Monster Arena. I just enjoy this whole section of the game and how he enthusiastically encourages you to go on, even when you fail, even when your monsters fall in combat or you lose an arena match, he is just a force of positive vibes and energy, he is bright, colorful, cheerful, and eccentric in every way. In many ways he really captures what I love so much about Dragon Quest's aesthetics.

Also, and I forget his name, but the side character in Alpha Protocol that you meet if you go to China first. He's an American (I think), and the opening scene of him is torturing this asian guy, who is tied up, and his mouth taped shut. He's desperately trying to answer the guys question of "WHERE IS IT!? I KNOW YOU KNOW WHERE THEY ARE?! ANSWER ME?!?" he then stops to talk to you, and starts dumping gas on the guy, all the while you are talking to him. He then gets out a lighter, lights it, and gives the guy one more chance to talk. The victim is desperately jerking his head to the side, and the torturer looks over there with a casual "Hmm? OH!" *walks over, grabs a set of keys* "There they are! Thanks!" and then walks away.....

He then later shows up to "help" you infiltrate this one subway station (it's got a secret entrance in one of the stations to get to a badguy place). And how does he help you you ask? He rigs up a mounted mini-gun to a traincar, and drives it through the chest-high wall area you are fighting in, telling you to duck. He then proceeds to gun down anyone standing upright...including you if you don't duck...all the while laughing like a lunatic. By far, one of the more memorable npc's i've ever seen in a game. He was fucking insane, but it was a most amusing kind of insane.
Steven Heck! Played by Nolan North.

I'm partial to Piper in Fallout 4, because she has a personality that's usually sufficiently warm and cheery but isn't above calling crap crap.
Oh yeah, I was going to mention her, not sure what stopped me. My sassy lady character and her seem to make such a lovely couple, I decided to go solely for that one romance. :)
Piper had weird lip synch animation which put me off

besides there is only one single answer to favourite fallout npc. i know you lot are too uptight to admit it, but that is ok.. fisto still loves you

for me my favourite npc would be kinzie from the saints row franchise. shes genius level smart, flawed a nerd and geek, comfortable with and in charge of her sexuality and HATES poodle skirts

Ah, good to know! Yeah he was hilarious, definitely an NPC that stuck in my mind over the years. Only one of two from that game that left any lasting impression on me.

Lip synching and body synching were weirdly off, I agree. But the voice can carry a lot on its' own when utilised well and expanded on. None of Dragon Age's character's would have felt more than overzealous mannequins otherwise. Did Saints Row have better lip synching? I hardly remember, Kinzie's growth in 4 was quite a stand out part of the game. :)

my favorite NPC still remains to be Beatrix from Final Fantasy IX
I would have much rather had her as the last party member instead of Amarant...I don't hate Amarant but he just didn't seem as important to the plot as Beatrix (who admittedly, wasn't super important either). Her relationship to Steiner though was far more interesting than Amarant's was to Zidane.

While I didn't like him as a character, I did like how you got a fanboy if you made it to a certain point in the Arena side-quest in Oblivion. Several times while playing through an 'ignore the main story' run I would beat the Arena and just role-play as a jaded gladiator who would eventually murder my biggest fan...but they found out...they always found out...(love the assassin's guild)

I also really liked Midna. No specific reason, I just thought she was one of the best support characters in the 3D Zelda games. Ravio was pretty good too but I like characters who are like that: kinda lazy, kinda useless but, if money is dangled in front of his nose he hops into action. He was kinda like C.M.O.T-Dibbler from Discworld canon only not quite that big a piece of shit. "Oh you're not using your house? Don't mind me, I've just turned it into a shop! Don't bother asking for rent, I'll let you borrow this equipment for less maybe. Here, you can even buy this stuff outright!"
