I'd say it doesn't get much more obscure than this, but here is a song with less than 10,000 youtube views, and less than 1,000:

No-one I know apart from my metal friend (who introduced me to these guys in the first place) knows any of these, so congratulations if anyone here does.
Yeah I've got Red Sparowes but haven't got round to listening to them yet.

OT: Not really sure.. Tbh most of my favourite bands are pretty obscure. I love love love godspeed you! black emperor and not many people seem to know about them. I've met about 2 or 3 people who (to my knowledge) do. Actually turned out that a guy I've known for 6 years likes them and I never knew. It's weird cos their music is so big in my life but I don't really get the opportunity share it much. Seeing them live in a couple of weeks though :)

I love Burial as well, but he got nominated for a mercury prize and he's an absolute legend in dubstep so I don't think you could call him obscure even if most people don't know who he is.

Godspeed You! Black Emperor, especially the East Hastings song.

I'd post a Youtube link but apparently, some space monkeys are trying to fix an ominous 500 internal error on Youtube.

Ok I have two. Both are a bit old timey but totaly awesome. Enjoy

First up we have Cornmeal. An excellent Blue Grass band that absolutely wails everytime they play. This is just a quick video and showing off some skills

Next up is a mores southern style band called The Carolina Chocolate Drops. They play all manner of instrument including banjo, washboard, kazoo (yep kazoo), the bones, the jug, and a few others I am sure I am missing.

One of my favorite artists is Joan as Police Woman (AKA Joan Wasser). She's got a beautiful voice, and an amazing sense of rhythm. Her albums have got plenty of positive reviews, but no one that I know has ever heard of her. She really deserves more attention!

The Aquabats. They might not be considered very obscure though...

And Chloe Dolandis, a person who is local. Warning: amateur video.

Well, I got a few:

There's Bay Laurel

Rale

It's a Czech band

and as last example- Sive (I like their style very much)

It's not all, there are many others, that I am sure many people don't recognize, but these are some of my favorites.

Loreena McKennitt

Not entirely unknown, but most people here probably won't recognize her. Absolutely awesome voice and wonderfully serene tone.

Favorite song from her is Skeelig.

Klabautamann

Does anyone know these bands?

I love Air Traffic, the Civil Wars, the Coronas, Civil Twilight, Jim Lockey and the Solemn Sun, People and the Poet, the Memory Band, Jack Savoretti, James Yuill, We Are The Birdcage, Area 11, Cosmo Jarvis, the Doobie Brothers, Reef, Tiny Dancers, Emily Barker and the Red Clay Halo, Regina Spektor and a whole load of others. Some of them might be better known in the US than they are here, but in the UK most people won't have heard of most of these.

EDIT: And how could I have forgotten these guys?!

Since I'm from Devon, these men are practically worshipped in most of the surrounding area, they're sort of our national heroes. Seen them live so many times, wonderful blokes all.

Red Sparowes are excellent. One of my fave post-rock outfits.

Well shit... then I'll add Pelican, Explosions in the Sky, God is an Astronaut and Mogwai. Or we could just say 'all post-rock/post-metal bands that aren't Isis, Neurosis or Jesu'.

Then we can all have a huge shitfight over which bands are post-rock, which are post-metal, which are drone, which are shoegaze and which are sludge. :D

Also, for retro-obscure points, I call Throbbing Gristle.

Red Sparowes <3.

My addition isn't too obscure, but I fucking love them.

Some proper italian screamo/emo, Raein.

I fucking love GSY!BE, but I have to say they were probably the most disappointing band I've seen live. 100% self-indulgent noise-fest, I almost passed out from boredom.

Not saying the music wasn't good, they still played some classics and they sounded amazing. Just please don't go in expecting them to give a shit about the crowd at all.

Fuck, this post sounds so negative and I'm sorry, but I was so hyped and got let down.

EDIT: Also, when it comes to red sparowes. That album needs to be listened to all in one sitting. Some of the best post-rock I've heard, seriously.

Eskmo is odd, a bit creepy, and universally hated by all that I show him to...

...except myself. I love the crap out of this guy's music.

A quick thread for you telling everyone about singers/groups you like that nobody really seems to know about.
October Project.

They do Alt Rock, but the thing that makes them unique is they have a lyricist - a separate person who just writes the poetry that get turned into their lyrics. They aren't signed to any label because they've had some bad experiences with that, but if you search for them, you can find their website easily enough.

Here's a video for those interested: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=puGEpGzk2hk

Yellow Ostrich is an indie band from Brooklyn, New York. I fell in love with them pretty recently. Though a lot of people I know find them very strange for some reason. It may be due to the song I show them first named, "Whale" (link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1KCsOT1VaM) My favorite song is an acoutsic cover of their own song named "Daughter" (link:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pe6BzgedVRY) They also made an EP revolving around the life of Morgan Freeman, it is aptly named the "Morgan Freeman EP". I feel like I need not say any more words.

Mm, I've heard only good things about them though and I know they don't communicate with the crowd at all, but I've loved the live bootlegs I've heard.

Wet Nuns, frickin' amazing, video's rather odd though:

<spoiler=Not for the squeamish> <youtube=bcqk0tEwGjw>

They were supporting Turbowolf (who supported Wolfmother when I saw them in London).
