WOOO!
This is MY thread!
Alright....

- Black and White <<< Super cool
- Dungeon Keeper <<< Very original
- Another World (Or, Out of This World in America) <<< A MUST PLAY
- MDK <<< Awesome game, just kicks ass in a retro way
- Baldur's Gate <<< One of the greatest RPG's ever, Play II, shadows of Amn, it's widely regarded as the best
- Half-Life <<< Regarded as a classic, defining FPS
- Fallout 1&2
- Starcraft
- Age of Empires.
- Deus Ex <<< Also regarded as an incredible classic, and named the best PC game of all time by PC Gamer

Out of those, the ones you must play are probably
Another World
Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn
Dungeon Keeper
Fallout 2
Deux Ex

Why am I the only person still alive that's played Sub Culture (Criterion, Ubisoft)?

Brilliant game. Bit of a pain to get it running, but fantastic once you do.

Unreal Tournament 2004.

Easy to run and a great game, most people wouldn't believe me if I said UT2004 was my favourite platform game ever, or my favourite racing game, but it is. There are loads of mods, and for those 2 aforementioned game modes alone, about 200+ maps for each. You can spend hours just browsing and testing the mods, and I love that. It's why I have 3000+ hours logged.

SWAT4 - I love playing it, now only if I could convince my friends too.
You're in my way, sir.

May I suggest grabbing Dosbox and trying out Master of Magic and Master of Orion?

All my old favourites have been said. Will I get shot for suggesting emulators?
Mega Drive and N64 ones at least, as even my old wreck can run them.

I don't know if Morrowind would run on a netbook but that's the one. Like the king of my favorite old PC games. StarCraft, Unreal and Unreal Tournament, Freespace: The Great War (epic space sim it's really fucking good) and Freespace 2, Thief games if you can get them to run, WarCraft 3.... oh God there's so many great great old pc games.

The Ur-Quan Masters, it's like Spore's Space stage, but with more customization, story, and physics.
