I only understand English

I think they both sound better in Italian. In the case of the first; I have a hard time understanding English version of it to began with. I would need to looked up the lyric to understand the English version.
The second one I understand better but I still have to look at lyric to completely understand it.

there also some rammstein songs I like. I am to lazy add them to this tread put but first two post videos are connected to my playlist and those songs are on that playlist
also one Sabaton song sang in sweedish is on that playlist

I have been looking into the Japanese Language for years and while I'm nowhere near fluent I wouldn't be completely screwed if a mad billionaire kidnapped me and dropped me off in the middle of Shinjuku for no reason. Anyway that being said, there are a few Japanese songs whose lyrics I can kind of pick up. This song however...

...is a bit too fast for me to follow. I still love the song even though I can't sing along to a majority of it. As though that wasn't fast enough though, there's another version of this song performed by a different vocaloid:

Well, I do speak Swedish, English, Japanese and German (level of profiency in that order from highest to lowest, maybe 10, 9, 8 and 4 on a scale from 1-10) so alot of the music I listen to (The Offspring, Rammstein, Kent and various Japanese songs) doesn't really apply here.

But I do have an mp3 from someone called Marko Perkovic Thompson who sings in some slavic language I don't understand, maybe Croatian? This song of him is pretty good I think: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hXY2euWtEyE

Also I dont understand French but recently I've been really into a French artist called Stromae and there are especiially two songs I like:

English monolingual (with a smattering of French and Japanese), but it's super hard for me to narrow down (especially when it comes to Japanese music). I've been listening to Japanese songs over half my life, Spanish for even longer, and a tiny bit of French, German, Finnish, and Swedish. So possibly...

"<url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFQeprIycFk>In Limitless Desire" by Megumi Hayashibara. Got me into both Japanese music and the Slayers anime for the first time (though my favorite song of hers is "<url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QFiB6GjZn_I>Reflection").

"<url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYwFPaK6UQY>Trollhammaren" by Finntroll. Ironically in Swedish.

"<url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pc_MaaYEvvY>Tier" by Rammstein (German). Pretty much the entire Sensucht album, for that matter.

"<url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YS3hbkyUNp8>María" by Ricky Martin. Most of his Spanish-language stuff, really.

"<url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S5CsvXMM2iE>Kuolema Tekee Taiteilijan" by Nightwish or "Viimesen Kerran" by Loituma. Couldn't decide, Finnish is just such a beautiful language.

If I could find certain songs from the Cowboy Bebop soundtrack, I'd have a French example...

I really need to look up more of their stuff, past the original Emerald Sword saga...or even just more of their Italian songs.

As is, the only one I remember them singing in Italian is Lamento Eroico, which I absolutely love.

I understand English and Japanese. With a little bit of Croatian on the side.

That said, my favourite song that I don't understand would be Gee by SNSD, a korean idol unit.

It's not often I start learning a language just to understand a song, but goddamn. Niko Valkepää is amazing.

For all the flak this game gets on the MMO-verse (and Yahtzee's infamous "mumorpeger" term), this is actually one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard in any game or movie ever.

Also, I honestly like the game itself.

A nice bonus thrown in:

I like a lot of music in other languages, but I've been super into Melt Yourself Down lately, and I'm pretty sure the singer is just speaking gibberish most of the time, but their instrumentation is fantastic and they've got a great energy and dynamic...

just so good... and I have a real soft spot for worldly music...

I speak Swedish and English fluently, and a little bit of French("tourist french" level, actually had it in high school and had good grades but...) and Japanese(understand the grammar, tiny vocabulary). Other languages I've picked up stray words and phrases or can understand some by proximity(like German).

Japanese power metal! (I understand like 1 word in 10)

Finnish polka! (I don't understand a word)

All songs. Ever.

I have dyslexic hearing of a sorts that makes it difficult for me to make out what people are saying, so when it comes to songs I have absolutely no clue what they're singing unless it's crystal clear.

Znas da nije sve tako sivo dok imas nekim otic na pivo.

I have no idea if you're inclined to listen to this kind of music or not, but this is one of the few bands where I've read the lyrics.

There's a ton of stories behind their songs, especially "Pitala si me" which is sort of a revenge song made out to sound fairly romantic. A girlfriend to one of the bandmember asked why they didn't use her name in one of their songs and was obnoxious about it, so they made this song all about how it'd make her seem cheap seeing the CD at half price with a song dedicated to her and similar stuff.
The only Croatian I know is what I've learned from hearing my parents speak. I have no formal education so I can't read that, I'm afraid. I may get around to properly learning the language one day since it's part of my roots. I don't mind this kind of music, I have a Polish friend that sends me stuff like this often.

Warning; Incoming Metal.

I've never been a fan of screaming, but these two bands have hit that perfect middleground in my eyes of actually sounding like it is a person singing compared to a gargoyle, yet still sounding gruff.

Oh, and I only speak English.

Yeaaah Scandinavia.

Estonia's 2009 ESC entry, Rändajad by Urban Symphony. Been hooked on this thing ever since it aired. Still no clue what they are singing (something about a mountain I believe), but I gleefully sing along.

Great thread btw.

Not too strange, since more than half of the song is gibberish.

As for me, Týr is pretty nice, even though I don't speak a word of faroese (it's kinda like icelandic, except it apparently isn't)

As a Swede... that's uncanny as hell. The sound of it is like Swedish, like this sounds like it's sung in a Swedish dialect, but it's almost complete gibberish to me(I can understand it even less than Icelandic, the odd word only, like "han" means "him" in basically all scandinavian languages). But it makes me think I should understand it, because it sounds like my own language, argh!

Found a similar-ish song in Swedish for comparison:
