I'd say the Spartan Hoplites from Rome Total War. Crazy buggers chew up anything in their path.

I've actually never done that. If I ever had Hoplites defending a city, I'd line them up along the sides of the streets on the inside of the gate, then open the gate. Anything coming through had to survive a blender of flanking attacks from angry little men with long spears down the entire length of the street.

I love some of the spartans from the Halo Novels.

You know everytime I hear those jarheads in Halo refer to as spartans I can't help but to facepalm and die inside a little from laughter.

THEY'RE NOT SPARTANS!!

And if they're not from there (or you don't create a fictional character from there), especially back in 300BC when it existed...they're not Spartans!

It's like if Solid Snake or Mario were to start referring themselves as a Mohican or Hun thinking it would make them look more kickass.

well it was the spartan II program they were in...and they became more beastly than any human had ever gone before, so i think they deserve the title spartans
