Pretty much the bad guys that give off the feeling that they just need a hug, even after they rip your head off and use it as a tether ball.

Personaly I'm a fan of Demona from Gargoyles

She has this extreme hate of man kind, to the point where she want's us to go extinct, yet she seems to be the cause of all of her problems

as I put in the favorite RPG villain thread, I'll still pick Mir from Ar Tonelico. she was born as an experiment, the first beta-type reyvatiel, a cloned copy of the reyvatiel origins, which are basically a cross between a homunculus and an android. as the first one, she was subjected to many torturous experiments to determine just how powerful she was compared to the origins, as well as used to create new song magic weapons. after writing her first song magic, which wasn't a weapon but merely the display of her love for humanity, the scientists who created her were not too happy about it. eventually, Mir started to hate humans so much that she destroyed the world.

Woah, I forgot all about Gargoyles! That show was fantastic!

My vote goes to a few of Batman's foes, namely Bane. Born and raised in prison to pay off his father's sentence. Also Two-Face, captured perfectly in the Long Halloween and Dark Victory storylines by Jeph Loeb.

Magus from Chrono Trigger, Lucifer from "The Bible", Magneto from X-Men, and there's probably a bunch of other great ones. My favorite villains are always the ones plagued by tragedy.

Oedipus Rex. The original and the best. Especially since all the childrens books just cover the Riddle of the Sphinx, which makes him out to be an intellectual, and then you hear the full extent of the rest of his story, although Oedipus at Collosus does give him a happy ending, (but his kids are screwed)

I would say Teryn Logain from Dragon age., He helped free ferlden from orlais and I can understand his reasoning behind not wanting their help. He thought he was doing the right thing and he didn't know that a grey warden was needed to kill the archdemon

Mozenrath from the Aladdin TV series.

Everything was handed to Aladdin on a golden plate, while he sacrificed his hand for his power.

Dutch Van Der Linde from Red Dead Redemption, he could see that civilazation would be the death of him and John and chose a life of savagery instead. In the end he killed himself rather than let the civilised world ruin him.
'Our Time Has Passed, John.'
