It used to be The Simpsons but then that stopped being funny...

Then it turned into Scrubs but then it was blown away by House.

It's hard to choose between House and Psych though..But I guess I'd go with House if I had to pick which stayed on the air...

Dexter - just brilliant. My favourite series of the moment.
Also House and Shark.

There'd be too many comedies to list, but pretty much all animated comedies and British comedy series...

Neon Genesis Evangelion is the best anime show ever. My head is still messed up after watching the whole series and the movie in one day.
Yea watching all that in one sitting will mind rape you. My friend spent a weekend watching the thing after I told him about it and he told me that he felt bad after watching it. FELT BAD?! I had my moments but I felt confuzzled after seeing that for the first time.

CSI: LA is probably my favourite at the moment, though I'm a bit worried about this season.. But I love the show. Great character development, a good mix of funny/serious/WTF episodes, genuinely flawed characters and I like the combination of real forensic techniques and the bullshit technology they throw in. I like that it's not completely realistic. ^.^

NCIS is another favourite, thanks to my girlfriend.

I also loved Carnivale when it was on, though I'm still annoyed at the lack of a third season.. But it was easily one of the most original and interesting shows I've ever watched.

You know, the series that had left you with your jaw dropped.
And don't just say Firefly cuz that is surely one of the most liked series in the past decade or so.

I personaly just love the Dexter series.

This is one of the best shows still running and has one of the best characters development at all.
I just adore Firefly. The acting, the dialogue, the story, the characters... I don't doubt that I probably love it more than I should, because it died too early. But I love it nonetheless.

As for my current favourite TV shows: Battlestar Galactica, How I Met Your Mother and... Probably Dexter. I'd like to say House, just because of how brilliant Hugh Laurie is, but it is quite the formulaic show.

But I think BSG and HIMYM definitely deserve some real notice. BSG is such a profound, riveting, deep sci-fi with powerful acting and concepts throughout the entire 4 seasons... It is one of the best complete works I have seen on TV (I haven't see the end yet, obviously, but I'm confident it will remain as high quality as the rest of the series). As far as I'm concerned, BSG makes almost all sci-fi's before it look silly, and makes virtually all dramas currently on TV a waste of time.

If you're caught up on BSG, and you watch a little Sarah Connor Chronicles or Heroes, it really makes those shows intolerable.

And How I Met Your Mother is simply the best sitcom I've seen. It's fresh, it's hilarious, it's often epic (you've got to watch it chronologically), Neil Patrick Harris takes the show to new heights, it manages not to be annoying even with the soundtrack (because the jokes are quite often often)... and it just... deserves more acclaim in my opinion. I'm glad it finally got syndicated, at least now I can appreciate it without worrying even if it doesn't have the biggest following.

The Lost Room.
One of the best mini-series and one of the best things that happaned on TV screen in the last decade or so.

I think that the main reason people like Firefly so much is because it is short. The show died in its prime, there were no weak episodes, no actiors leaving the series because personal reasons. Well it is a little like Elvil. The early death is what makes it so damn good in our eyes. Not just excelent, but superb.

I can't believe this is only the second recommendation for 'The Wire'. All 5 series are epic, brilliantly told stories with fantastic character development. My favourite two characters are Omar and Freeman (although i have a soft spot for 'Cheese' because of the actor who plays him :p). The only 'issue' with the wire is it requires some getting into. It was written so the story unfolded slowely like a novel and it does exactly that. Just like a good novel you want to keep taking in the story to find out what happens next. Utter Brilliance

Also watch 'Charlie Brookers Screenwipe'. Possibly the funniest thing on TV atm.
