Mods, if you find this in any way offensive or against the rules, please by all means shoot the thread. I know young gamers should not drink and I would never encourage them to.

What's your favorite source of alcoholic beverage? (ie, wine, ale, mead, vodka, rum, etc)

What's your favorite brand of said alcoholic beverage?

Please describe your selected brand (quality, flavor, taste, or link to a description of it).

And would you recommend it to others?

What sort of alcoholic beverage would you want people to stay away from completely? Why?

Do you think drinking alcohol is good, okay, or wrong in any way? Why so?

Tell your personal alcohol-related stories, whether they be good or bad.

Let's have a good, wholesome thread about the brew of ages.

To start this off, rum. I love rum. You can mix it with things (including cola products, woo!), it's distilled and wont pudge you out as easily as beer, and it only takes a little to bring on a good day. I'm in the process of trying out more expensive brands, so I'll get back to you on my favorite of the group. And yes, I think everyone that's eligible to drink should have rum once in their life. Rum, sake, and Kahlua.

My alcohol of choice is Tequila, and the finest I've ever tasted was a vanilla reposado as part of the Wahaca Tequila Experience.

Only £40 a bottle!

I drink mine to taste, like whiskey, though I also enjoy it as a quick shot for nights out.

I don't drink, considering I'm still a couple years shy of the age limit, but my favorite brand name is still Johnny Walker. Why? I don't really know, something about the name just seems inherently friendly and promising.

For me it is either Rum and Coke or Beer. My favorite beer is Widmer Hefeweizen (Widmer is a local brewing company in Oregon). I like my Rum and Cokes with Captain Morgan's, while not exactly the best rum, I think it is really good for the price.

Vodka and some type of fruit juice, usually orange and cranberry.

Fruity, yet with a hint of "fuck yeah manliness" if you make it strong enough, which I have a habit of doing.

Beer, particularly a good Larger. My usual staple is a Hahn Super Dry, but when I've got a little extra to spend I like a James Squire either Sundown Larger or One Fifty Lashes Pale Ale. As for my thoughts on drinking, yes, alcohol is a very good thing and we should all enjoy the goodness together.

I love everything about this brand... from the drink, to the adverts, to the merchendise!

I especially love the Toucan used in the old adverts, and one day will definitely find it tatooed on me somewhere! :p

I do like a good beer/ale, but if I am not drinking them, then I am drinking Gin and Tonic... Bombay Sapphire or Hendricks is my favourite, and always with ice and cucumber... NEVER LEMON!!!!

My final favourite tipple is Port! In particular Taylors Late Bottled Vintage... It's a lot smoother, and doesn't have the nasty aftertaste that cheap ruby port has!

Do you ever have Morgans Spiced in your coke? Or White/Caribbean Rum? Or is it just dark/navy rum usually?

I'm a spirits man. Which spirit depends on my mood, usually some whiskey, vodka, gin, rum... Some call me un-Australian for not liking beer, to which I say: so?

I do enjoy a Vodka Martini, though they cost a bomb when you're out in town and it's hard to order one without the bartender thinking you're just being a douchebag.

Not sure I have a favourite brand, though I will go for any of these: Jack Daniels, Wild Turkey, Smirnoff, Ciroc, Gordon's, Bacardi, Kaluha... Now I want a drink.

I'm going to put forward that everyone who can try Wild Turkey American Honey. That stuff is delicious and can be drunk straight with no effort.

Beer is always a good choice, but don't ask me about brands, because I have no idea what's what. I've also had a few sips of some mixed drinks that my sister made, and it was pretty good.

EDIT: As far as stories go, I have none, since I've only been drinking for about a month, but I'm going to a party next week, so I might just necro this thread the day after.

I have recently developed a taste for Scotch. Have been working my way through the regions of Scotland, and I think I prefer the highlands/speyside whiskey. Anyway, my favourite whiskeys to date are:
