Holy necro, Batman.

I love these threads. I'd probably win them every time, because all I have to do is name-drop one ultra-tr00-kvlt BM band and people'll go, "Who?". And, trust me, I have a lot of those. =D

Many of the bands I listen to draw blank stares from people.

One of my favorite performers is Nina Nastasia, she plays acoustic guitar and has a very haunting voice.

Dare I say Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds?. No body I talk to seems to have heard of them (despite being a brilliant band)... I could put it down to them being from Australia and probably only big over there.

Here's one of their songs... I think it's been heard on a lot of movies... Just one of those songs most know but don't know the artist.

Red, Three days grace, 3 doors down, inme, trapt, Most rock bands.

i'm being serious, Most people in the UK seems to just want to listen to the same shit of R'n'B/hip-hop-pop. No one i know would know these bands, i know theres probably quite a few people who do in the UK, but i don't know any.

I know one! Anyone who's listened to the Punk Show on Radio 1 recently might have heard of these guys:

Basically, a throwback to early punk like The Clash (they even named them as a major influence in an interview). Charged lyrics over simple riff. Simple and effective.

The song loses some of its relevance now that we've had a General Election in England (the line "A system we need to change / A leader we didn't elect" is now incorrect, unfortunately as it's a superb line)

Venetian Snares... My favourite artist of all time, and only a handful of the people I have met know about him.
I fixed your post because the videos weren't showing up - just go [ youtube=*xxxxxx* ]" next time. I felt compelled to help because you like Venetian Snares, and therefore you have really awesome taste in music.

not so much unheard of but no-one seems to know them well enough. Extreme are a band from the 80s with quite possibly the best guitarist ever, Nuno Bettencourt, and yet people only seem to know them for a soppy ballad that only consists of half of the band. they have some awesome stuff and yet no-one knows of it. it's just wrong

Around here in Sweden, no one seems to know of them at least.

They're a jamaican reggae metal band, really cool actually.
They're from Newport, Wales. Still awesome though.

I like a lot of not-especially-well-known rock bands:

Black Spiders
Stone Gods (two members of The Darkness, neither of them Justin Hawkins (thank god), so they're awesome, and sound like a band from about 35 years ago)
Bullets And Octane
The Plight
The Parlor Mob

Very few people know the bands I know (at least my friends don't) but my favourite of them all is definitely Be'lakor. Melbourne death metal band, named themselves after a Chaos daemon from Warhammer.

The black box revelation

It's a Belgian band,so that may be the reason for them being unknown.

GirlsDeadMonster, well they are Japanese so I guess it's understandable why no one has heard of them.
