For me it would be a toss up between Jonny Craig, Tyler Carter, and Aaron Pauley. The reason for a tie for me is because they all have a similar quality. That quality being that they all can sing high and sound very soulful. I am the exact opposite. My voice is low, and my singing is unrefined. But enough about me, I want to know about the people. Anyone is fair game when it comes to picking. The only rule is that you have to explain your choice. So, the question is, who is your favorite vocalist?

Ronnie James Dio - The King of Metal
He is a god among men. Even at 60 years of age, this guy could beat anyone in a singing contest. The only person that could come close to him is Freddie Mercury.

Also, Jack Black is pretty good in Tenacious D.

I will say two here, one harsh and one clean.

Harsh: John fucking Tardy. Man, I could listen to his vocals all day. They never get boring.

Clean: Maxim "Agyl" Adrianov. Some of the most powerful soaring vocals I've ever heard. Shame his life was cut short after only a single album.

Whether they are my definite "favourites" or not, I don't know. I'm not really into the whole favourite-thing in music. They are, however, among those who stand out to me the most.

Tough question. I'd say my number one is probably Matt Berninger of the National- he puts so much passion into being somber and a tad bit monotone.

Other winner singers/vocalists: Nick Cave, Mick Jagger, Victoria Legrand (Beach House), Paul Westerberg (The Replacements), Neko Case, Chuck D (Public Enemy), Craig Finn (The Hold Steady), Shane Macgowan (The Pogues), Dave Longstreth (Dirty Projectors), and Bjork.

Not enough Anthony Keidis in this thread.

Other than him, the lead singer of Fool's Gold is quite good at singing in Hebrew.

Phenomenal choice, Scald were such an incredible band.

Personally I'd go with Simen Hestnæs, aka ICS Vortex. Something about his scathing harsh vox combined with the weird, warbling cleans he does massively appeals to me:

In terms of more traditional singers I'd go with Jessica (aka Jex) Thoth. Her voice makes me feel funny downstairs, if you catch my drift:

Don't know how to do that fancy 'make the video show on the page' thing.

1 - Freddie Mercury
2 - Stevie Wonder
3 - Michael Jackson
4 - Jon Bon Jovi
5 - Christina Aguilera

Every one of those has/had a good range and are/were powerful regardless of volume or pitch.

Matthew Bellamy.

He's a very polarising singer - many can't stand him - but I for one love him. The amount of emotion he puts into every syllable makes it sound like he really, really means it.
