to me Tom Lehrer is the godfather of satire. If you want to qualify that with 'American satire' I won't cause a fuss.

Props to Jello Biafra as well.

There are too many to pick from. Colbert has to be my favorite though.

Also "Wierd Al" Yankovic, if that counts (it should, right?)

Don't ever see Frankie perform stand up then. It's just a huge disappointment when 90% of the material you've heard before =/

...except Galapagos, I just couldn't finish that damn book, especially because it was very clear how it was going to end very early.
