My intel was about 4 minutes slow in Sins of a Solar empire, and jumped my entire fleet into a new star system. It just so happened that about four other AI's decided to move their entire fleets through said star...

Turned into a 5-way battle royale with about 50-75 ships per fleet!

Probably in Homeworld 2 all v all match, your busy fighting the guy nearest you, when you hear the familiar "Warp" sound, as ships appear from hyperspace, those ships being two battle cruisers next to your mothership, naturally.

I used to be really into Star Wars: Galactic Empires. During a match where I was the Empire and my opponent was the Trade Federation, I had built a gigantic world-ending army that took up almost a quarter of the entire map, staying on the defensive until I was ready to steamroll the entire forest.

They got completely wiped out by my opponents defenses. The only reason why I won was because it took so much out of my opponent that I was able to finish him off with whatever small squad I could dredge up with my remaining resources. Still, that one really pissed me off.

RTW forgot about a Gaul reinforcement army. Lost my general, a good portion of my cavalry, and most of my archers.

My worst moment... hmm... My teammates and I had been roundly trounced in a game of AoE3, but I had managed to sneak a passel of villagers away, and to the little island offshore. I had quite a nice little island empire going, rebuilding while my opponents searched the mainland for the rest of my force - but then one of them got the bright idea to go look out at sea. I didn't last long against three combined navies.

Pretty much every single time the group I play with manages to lose another campaign in AI War [http://arcengames.com/w/index.php/aiwar-features] qualifies. When we screw up, we're very thorough about it. I think in our most recent campaign we had finally gotten up to comfortably holding around eight to ten planets (out of 80) and were reasonably happy with our defenses, but there were a couple thousand ships that were stalking us and keeping just too far out of range for us to be able to take them out. We should've cleaned them up earlier before it got so bad, but we were busy fortifying our position and capturing a factory, and they were mostly leaving us alone, so we ignored them for a little while.

Bad idea. Instead of dealing with the existing threat, a couple people decided to go make a small tactical strike off somewhere in a different direction. While they were occupied with that, we suddenly got a warning that a couple thousand more enemy ships were coming in three minutes, and a few thousand more about ten minutes after that. Sending a scout in and watching them all gather and prepare to destroy us definitely scored pretty high up there on the "WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!" meter. Suddenly our uncomfortably large 2000-ship problem lurking next door became 9000 ships plowing through everything we owned and barely slowing down. When something we didn't even notice in the confusion broke through and took out half our power generators, shutting off all our force fields and half our defenses as a result... Let's just say that it didn't end well. Heh.

Two days ago after playing Demon's Souls and collecting close to 15,000 souls (new player, only soul level 5) and dying, then dying again when trying to get back to my bloodstain. Damn I was pissed after that one! Now being soul level 34 I'm collecting a heck of a lot more souls when playing and it seems like I wasted my time being pissed about it.

Starcraft
-moved a massive swarm of mutalisks near opponents base and morphed them into guardians
-harassed an expansion with a couple more mutalisks to distract him.
-reinforcements arrived. Mutalisks retreated. Reinforcements followed.
-Realised all too late that my mutalisks were flying right over my massive swarm of guardians that were still morphing.
-Terrible, terrible slaughter. I cried.

well empire earth, especially with some campaign missions where you land on an island somewhere and have to build fast and big before enemies come so you can commute to a different island..

and then you end up this happening..with your maybe 4 elite soldiers and 10 regular scrubby soldiers..

they come out of the fog of war and you just go "ohh fuck..."

Watching a horde of 1000 zerglings come towards your base in Starcraft.

Or when some guy figured how to hack Starcraft multiplayer and made an entire army of about 100 tanks.

Edit: Also, hearing "NUCLEAR LAUNCH DETECTED" and then thinking "Wait...I didn't do that...ohhhhhhhhh shi-"

The two Kadeshi missions in Homeworld. Having hundreds of insanely fast fighters swarming around your mothership really is no fun.

We call this the 93 nukes play: My friends and I used to be able to con the school board into allowing a StarCraft tournament once a year during winter carnival. I was fortunate enough to be on the receiving end of a nuclear missile barrage in the final of the 2004 tournament. We were playing teams of four on the popular multiplayer map, Big Game Hunters. My friend (thankfully) had the foresight to record what his team was up to and we found out later by playing back the tape. While my team and I systematically eliminated the other three members of his team, we didn't realize he had mind controlled a drone, an SCV, and a probe from his allies. He had thereby gathered enough resources to mount an attack of 93 nuclear missiles and managed to get them all to launch simultaneously. Our saving grace came from a server fail causing us to have to re-play the match. We still lost (Andre's allies had been toying with us while Dre mounted the nuke charge) but it was nonetheless amusing watching the recording of our team getting it's living daylights blown to smithereens.

One of the biggest moments was in SCII, my friend and I normally attack at the 10 min mark with me going M+M and him going roaches, get to their base, and at 10 mins, one had 10 immortals and the other had 10 voids, however, me making all of my barracks reactored, and my zerg chum turing into mutalisks meant that in a few minuets time, my marines destroyed the immortals and the voids, and the mutas killed loads of stuff as well, but nothing matches the fear of seeing that many enemy forces suddenly appear on the horizon. We did win the game however, which was good.
